3. ABSTRACT
Each and every day, every girl, woman finds it almost impossible to rescue herself from the roving eye of the guy which questions
her dignity. She tries her best to be at par with men. Although equal opportunities might be given but how can she make the best
out of it if she cannot step outside the safe zone, that is among the four walls. In the year 2020, seventy-seven rape cases were
reported in a single day, summing to a 28,046 such incidents during the year. These are the count of reported rape cases; the
number of assaults and unreported cases are alarming. The safety of women has become an issue of major concern never than
before. A woman cannot rely on having someone around the clock. Disturbed by such incidents, this proposed system uses IoT to
take a step towards a safer society. Using IoT, physical devices can communicate with each other over internet irrespective with
distance. The proposed system is a real-time, portable and secure system which used to send alert message to their relatives and
nearby police station. This system consists of Raspberry Pi, heartbeat sensor, temperature sensor, GPS and panic button. The
device is extremely compact and can be triggered by the person in need of help by pushing the panic button which will send her
location via SMS to the emergency contacts as well as the nearest police station.
4. INTRODUCTION
The need to a solid step towards women’s safety is at its peak because of which this project proposes a real time secure gadget
planned to serve the reason to make the society a safe place for women so that they never feel powerless while facing any such
situation. A propelled framework can be assembled that can help women when they are in harm’s way. In this project, we are
using Raspberry pi, temperature sensor, Heart Beat Sensor, GPS and a panic button. Whenever a woman finds herself in a
dangerous situation, she can press a button which will trigger a SMS to the emergency contact numbers and the nearest police
station along with her location. By making few changes in this model, we can also sense the heartbeat and the temperature of the
user, compare it with the threshold value and then send the alert message to the concerned. Another modification to the model can
be made which will be useful under the situations where the woman cannot press the button. In that case, voice data is used to
trigger the alert message. The device will be extremely compact and portable which can be simply activated using a push button
and the heartbeat, temperature sensors and the voice data are integrated to the raspberry pi using programming language of choice.
6. OBJECTIVES
● To empower women with the aid of technology so that they can live without holding out their breath all the time.
● To find an effective way to do the above mentioned with the knowledge of IoT with the highest reliability possible.
● For that, we are using Raspberry pi, temperature sensor, Heart Beat Sensor, GPS and a panic button. Whenever a
woman finds herself in a dangerous situation, she can press a button which will trigger a SMS to the emergency
contact numbers and the nearest police station along with her location.
● The device is expected to be extremely compact and portable which can be simply activated using a push button and
the heartbeat, temperature sensors and the voice data are integrated to the raspberry pi using programming language
of choice.
● The multiple features ensure to back each other up at the time any one of them fails to operate.
7. Hardware Components Required
1. Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi is a little, modest, small PC on a solitary circuit board, and has
been structured so that it expends less force than the normal PC.
The raspberry pi comprises of the small-scale USB power, show port, miniaturized
scale SD opening, HDMI, port, sound video jack, CPU, GPIO pins.
Through the miniaturized scale USB power, the force flexibly for the raspberry pi is
given.With the assistance of the SD card it can store mass stockpiling. The SD card
of the advanced mobile phone that is utilized for the computerization and also can be
embedded.

9. Software Components Required
Python Programming Language
Python is an interpreted high-level general-purpose programming language. Its design
philosophy emphasizes code readability with its use of significant indentation. Its language
constructs as well as its object-oriented approach aim to help programmers write clear,
logical code for small and large-scale projects.
Python is dynamically-typed and garbage-collected. It supports multiple programming

programming. It is often described as a "batteries included" language due to its
comprehensive standard library.
Guido van Rossum began working on Python in the late 1980s, as a successor to the ABC
programming language, and first released it in 1991 as Python 0.9.0. Python 2.0 was released
in 2000 and introduced new features, such as list comprehensions and a cycle-detecting
garbage collection system (in addition to reference counting).
10. METHODOLOGY USED
● Raspberry pi zero with 1GHz BCM2835 single-core processor with 512MB RAM (Raspberry Pi zero W) as a Main controller. .
This controller is small in size (65mm long by 30mm wide) when compared to other controllers and able to process and capture
images.
● At the moment of button pressed, raspberry pi captures the image and stores it in local storage and updates the emergency signal
into a cloud database .
● Android application sends current location of user to emergency contacts through SMS as well as update location to the cloud.
● In case the button cannot be pressed in the rush of the situation, the temperature and the heartbeat sensor senses if the parameters
are above the threshold level and activates the system.
● Keeping in mind that the physical parameters are subject to changes, a voice activator is also embedded into the design. When a
pre-decided word, e.g. HELP ME is said out, the device shall recognize the word and activate the system.
