Birju Acharya Yoga  is an ancient  Indian system  of self-healing,  self-Analysis,  self-Development,  self-realisation  and Liberation,  which offers  a holistic approach  to man through its ideology & scientific Techniques.
Birju Acharya Heart disease   has occupied  the place of number one  killer disease all over  the world, with more  and more advancements in technology and  modern life style.  It is a problem of modern  civilization in the largest sense. Heart disease is a lifestyle disease.
Birju Acharya I t is now realized that modern  medical science influences the  health of the people comparatively to a lesser extent than the other  factors like hereditary, environment, diet, activities, rest and relaxation, etc. and Yoga has much to contribute  in these aspects as it makes us realize that disease affecting any  specific part of our body is not really  a disease confined only to that part  but in fact, it is a manifestation of  some disharmony in the body-mind complex of the person.
Birju Acharya Mind and intellect  plays vital role  in ensuring total health. Yoga is the only effective way of dealing with mind, which in turn helps in  dealing with any psychosomatic  diseases/disorders like cardio vascular diseases.  This is the reason why all,  including medical fraternity are now turning to Yoga with great expectations.
Birju Acharya How Does Yoga Help In  Combating This Disease? A study, published in  Journal of The Association  of Physicians of India (JAPI),  establishes the reversibility of  heart disease through yoga.  Study was on angiographically  proven CAD patients, of whom  71 formed the study group  and 42 the control group.
And the results proved that the  serum total cholesterol  levels had reduced by 23.3%,  disease had regressed in 43.7%  and progression was arrested in another 46.5% of the patients.  Some marked improvements  were noticed in anxiety levels of patients. Controlled yoga  combining calming and  stimulating measures resulted  in reduced serum cholesterol,  LDL and triglyceride levels. Birju Acharya
Yoga and Heart Attacks  Dr. Satish Sivasankaran recently conducted a study on the effects of yoga in preventing coronary artery disease. The preliminary study on the  ways to conquer chronic stresses such  as CAD by yoga, indicated improvements  in the conditions of epithelial cells  that line our arteries from inside.  These are usually flexible and remain so. Dr. Satish has studied 33 persons (10 had cardiovascular diseases) of average 55 years. Parameters like body mass, heart rates, blood pressure, and cholesterol and blood sugar levels were checked including epithelial linings before and after the study.  Birju Acharya
The study lasted for 6 weeks with 3 sessions of 90 minutes each in every week.  Sessions were on yoga and meditation.  Significant improvements, across the group, for example reductions in hypertension, body mass and pulse rate were reported by Dr. Satish. Specifically those with previous CAD history also showed improvements in the  functioning of endothelial cells. It may be too early, but efforts on yoga for heart disease are taking researchers in the right direction. Birju Acharya Yoga Therapy for Heart Disease Yoga can help reduce stress,  and thus has a major contribution  to prevention and revert heart diseases.
Birju Acharya Yogic Relaxation helps patients  control their anxiety, stress  and blood pressure.  Yoga also improves the flow of blood to arteries and veins and strengthens them and makes them more elastic.  Yogic poses and breathing techniques  along with Yogic way of Life are highly useful in managing cardiovascular health.
Birju Acharya Shavasan (Corpse Pose)   is the most useful yogic asan for relaxation.  Lie down flat on your back with your arms  by your sides quietly on the floor on a mat; relax  all the muscles of your body and Concentrate  on the flow of your breath.  Let Inhalation and exhalation be automatic.  During the natural stops in breathing after  exhalation and before inhalation and after  inhalation and before exhalation, stay quiet,  silent, for a few seconds, this practice brings  tranquility and rest, which are healing to  the heart. Remain in shavasan. Practicing  this Asan for 20 to 30 minutes can produce miracles.
Birju Acharya Benefits :  Stimulates blood circulation in the Heart  and exercises inner organs including coronary arteries.  Alleviates fatigue, nervousness, neurasthenia (a general worn-out feeling), high blood pressure, asthma,  constipation, diabetes, indigestion, insomnia, lumbago.  Improves concentration and thus self-confidence. Heart works nonstop for 24 hours life time.  It needs no further workout or burden but relaxation.  Shavasan relaxes the heart  and other related systems like Respiratory,  Circulatory, Nervous & Neuromuscular, ..etc. It is the autonomic nervous system  that is responsible for Healing and  Rejuvenation, and Shavasan promotes  better functioning of autonomic nervous system (ANS)  and thus Healing and Rejuvenation .
Birju Acharya Breathing Exercise Deep breathing exercises and Pranayam such as Nadi Sodhan, Ujjayi, Bhramari Pranayam is helpful for cardiovascular health.
Birju Acharya Uddyiana Bandha  (The Diaphragm Lock or Abdominal Lift) This is considered one of the very  essential yoga techniques and  is practiced not only for its  physical values but also for  the way it influences one’s  psychic development.
Birju Acharya Benefits:  This practice massages and  tones up the internal organs  in the abdominal vicera.  It also massages the Diaphragm and Heart,  making it a stronger, more effective  pump. Circulation will improve  and one will have less chance of having a heart attack. It relieves constipation,  gas, indigestion and liver trouble.  In most of the chest pain and heart  problems, gas in the abdomen  is found to be one of the cause. It helps the correct functioning  of the adrenal glands and sex glands  It reduces abdominal fat and strengthens  the abdominal muscles.  It tones up the nerves in the solar  plexus region. It develops psychic and spiritual power.
Birju Acharya Nadi Sodhana or Anulom-Vilom   (Alternate Nostril Breathing) This is a simple yogic pranayamic  breathing exercise that can be  done comfortably. The name  alternate nostril breathing is  due to the fact that we alternate  between the two nostrils when  we do the breathing. Yogis believe  that this exercise will clean and  rejuvenate your vital channels  of energy, thus the name nadi sodhana  (purification of nadis or channels).

Birju Acharya Benefits: The yogis consider this to be  the best technique to clean  the Pranvahak Nadis, calm  the mind and the nervous system.  The exercise produces optimum  function to both sides of the brain:  that is optimum creativity  and optimum logical  verbal activity. Birju Acharya Yoga for heart disease  is one of the most effective  treatments in terms of lifestyle and physical fitness.  It has an undeniably effective role in minimizing the risk of cardiovascular  disease and lowers the risk of heart attacks,  coronary heart disease, and hypertension.  It has a direct influence on the hypothalamus,  which controls endocrine activity, helping  prevent attacks. Indirectly too the lifestyle  that yoga promotes is one that is conducive  to heart health, as it reduces stress, promotes  relaxation, and improves the various bodily  functions. For this reason many health care providers recommend yoga for heart patients.
Heart disease  has become a sign of our  modern times and is in fact the leading  cause of death. This is a largely psychosomatic problem triggered by unhealthy lifestyles,  faulty diets and general negativity and stress.  The relationship between the mind and body  can not be understated as our emotions and  thoughts have a marked effect on physical health. This relationship is most notable with heart disease.  Yoga being a holistic discipline does not just focus  on one area of the problem but takes a dynamic  approach addressing both physical and mental  health. A study, published in Journal of The Association of Physicians of India (JAPI), establishes the reversibility of heart disease through yoga. Study was on angiographically proven CAD patients, of whom 71 formed the study group and 42 the control group.
  • 7. And the results proved that the serum total cholesterol levels had reduced by 23.3%, disease had regressed in 43.7% and progression was arrested in another 46.5% of the patients.   • 8. Yoga and Heart Attacks Dr. Satish Sivasankaran recently conducted a study on the effects of yoga in preventing coronary artery disease. The preliminary study on the ways to conquer chronic stresses such as CAD by yoga, indicated improvements in the conditions of epithelial cells that line our arteries from inside. These are usually flexible and remain so. Dr. Satish has studied 33 persons (10 had cardiovascular diseases) of average 55 years.
