2. My SMART goal for the next 3 weeks and in general is to drink in moderation when I go out with my friends. S(specific)- When I go out with my friends I am going to limit myself to 2 or 3 drinks. M(measureable)- I will be able to track my progress after a night out, basing it off of how many drinks I had. A(achieveable)- I am very self-disciplined, so I feel I will definitely be able to fulfill this goal. R(realistic)- It shouldn't be an issue, but it may be harder in a bar setting. T(timely)- My hope is that this will result in better time management because I won't feel tired the next day. Smart Goal
3. Family- My family will definitely support me in my decision to drink moderately. Friends- I will probably have a few friends that laugh at my goal, but other that will encourage me. Surroundings- As stated previously, the setting in which I drink will have some influence on my decision. (i.e., bar, apt., house) Influences
4. Health Services- They offer many programs that help you socialize with partying. Gym- Going to the gym is always a good way to get your mind balanced and focused. MUB- Offers weekend activities, ranging from comedians to theatre performance. *The MUB is the Memorial Union Building at UNH. Resources
5. I will be able to track my goal after each night out. This will be based of the number of drinks consumed and how I feel in the morning. Also, I will only bring out a certain amount of money to spend and once it’s gone that’s it. Measuring Success
6. After a few nights of going out, I reached my goal twice. I let myself go one night because it was during a Celtics game. Being in a setting definitely had the most influence on me because it was harder to limit myself when watching sports at a bar. At home and my friends apartment, I had no problem sticking to 2 drinks. Evaluation
