About The Gerhard Society
the Gerhard society is a premier philanthropic society on the Main line comprised of
supporters who view Bryn Mawr Hospital to be integral to the health of the community and
who are committed to cultivating an enduring hospital and community partnership. Created in
1979 to recognize and honor individuals, corporations and foundations who annually contribute

The fluoroscopic navigation system is designed to accurately target a subchondral fracture or chronic marrow
edema lesion using a combination of pre-operative MRI mapping and intra-operative fluoroscopic imaging. The
navigation guide provides a reference system to properly access a subchondral lesion identified on MRI.
The instrumentation system consists of two major components: the handle and the reference frame. The handle
is used to properly situate the attached reference frame relative to the tibial anatomy using internal ratchets.
The reference frame is a semi-circular guide which allows the surgeon to externally target an internal fracture or
lesion from a range of access trajectories. The reference frame has three sets of portals on either side of the handle
that allow for pin insertion either 5mm or 10mm below the articular surface. The reference frame also has a distal
attachment that provides for an inferior approach at 45° and 60° angles.
During the pre-operative planning, the surgeon will chose a desired access trajectory from a planning template.
