Summary
In my senior year of undergraduacy, my coding skills are maturing. My education has provided me
with a working knowledge of, data structures, system level operations, Unix, networking, databases and
more. Computers pervade my private life as well. Pursuing my folding@home hobby, I ran several
headless diskless nodes for years. Computers are, of course, great for math. I love solving project Euler
problems. My code fluency made me quite popular as a computer science tutor. I can plan the code in
the time it takes me to read specifications, and, if I'm writing in Java or python, that code generally
works on the first run.
Skills
Python – code at the speed of thought
C – mostly point to the right spot and generally avoid leaks
Java – can implement complex java in my sleep
R – can work competently with datasets approaching 216
rows
Linux – prefer systemd over sysvinit
Math – it is how I think about the world. I would be a math major if not for fiscal constraints
Also have some experience in: SQL, Racket, Json, x86 and AMD64 assembly
Work Experience
Tune Inc.
Data Science Intern
Summer 2015
Produced a report on feasibility of automated outage detection
and a report on efficacy of a certain marketing technique. This
involved advance scripting. Data needed to be gathered from
disparate databases, Amazon S3, or even people. Algorithms
needed to be online due to memory constraints. The scripts used
robust statistical analysis to narrow down to the most pertinent
data and produce summaries and plots. The thousands of plots
could then be further analyzed manually, allowing us to
evaluate the effectiveness of the algorithms.
