Benjamin Hurt resume highlighting work experience and social impact
1. Benjamin Hurt • Benjamin.j.hurt@gmail.com • 729 Jones St #404 • San Francisco, CA 94109 WORK I’VE DONE Impact Foods • July 09 – Present -22860027305I co-founded and launched a philanthropic company that feeds hungry children. We developed the recipe for our first product, granola, and began selling it this fall. Through the official partnership I secured with Feed The Children, for every bag we sell we feed a hungry child for an entire day. 308610087630 To help make my dream of launching a socially conscious venture come true, I have taken responsibility for the marketing, public relations, and philanthropic partnership areas of our business. Starting a business doesn’t allow for such ridged roles however, so my duties on any given day also include legal research, organizing sample events, and becoming the executive granola chef in my own kitchen. Prudentia Solutions • March 09 – Present 0109220To help Prudentia Solutions expand their business, I revitalized their stagnant business development process and tripled the amount of incoming projects. When Prudentia hit a dry-spell of incoming projects, I collaborated with the president and assisted them in expanding their service offerings to include social media, user experience, and analytics consulting. I also introduced and organized a customer referral program that continues to build a constant stream of new projects. BravoLog • March 09 – Oct 09 3429000156210 BravoLog is a web-based application that allows you to manage all aspects of your aviation experience. After analyzing the value of BravoLog within the lucrative and niche aviation market segment, I consulted the founder and facilitated a restructuring of the pricing strategy. Success in that small project led to an increase in responsibility – I oversaw all marketing efforts and acted as a project manager for the remainder of the development process. Those efforts led to BravoLog securing five-hundred paying customers prior to product launch. I am currently negotiating the exit sale of BravoLog to a strategic partner. Lifetime Fitness • Aug 06 – Nov 07 As a supervisor, I organized and lead bi-weekly team meetings for 15 employees. In addition to front-line interaction with customers, I delegated and completed back-office tasks such as scheduling, inventory, and training. I also created and implemented a marketing plan involving free samples that was so successful we plan to use it in my current granola business! EDUCATION Southern Methodist University December 2008 B.B.A. Management, Cox School of Business 3.6 GPA 0190500While at SMU, I studied management and took special interest in corporate culture, marketing, and entrepreneurship. SMU’s Cox School of Business is consistently listed as a Top 25 undergraduate program by BusinessWeek. I continue to stay in touch with the network I built at SMU – ranging from janitors to the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner, Alan Shor. Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas May 2004 434340019685 In addition to receiving a good education from Jesuit, I gained something much more valuable through their work-grant program for low-income students. I participated in the program in order to offset some of my tuition costs and gained a deep appreciation for service and the value of my education. Jesuit’s community service component introduced me to my passion for service. GIVING BACK Prison Entrepreneurship Program 38100142875 PEP is a nonprofit dedicated to affecting change through entrepreneurship. I am currently a Business Plan Advisor for PEP and love every minute of it. Of PEP’s 500+ graduates, more than 80% have been employed within 30 days of their release. Dare To Give, LLC 4114800179705Dare To Give is a company I founded with the sole purpose of coupling the concepts of business and philanthropy. It started out simple with t-shirts – for every shirt we sold to on-campus groups or local organizations, we donated $1 to the charity of their choice. Dare To Give has since donated thousands of dollars and empowered individuals to continue launching socially conscious ventures.
