2. Goals
Offer online advising & career counseling using
video chat (Skype, Google Talk, etc)
Develop a more significant online presence
Redesign the School of Business Undergraduate
Programs website
Add professional videos featuring employers, faculty,
and alumni discussing placement opportunities
3. Reaching Out - Video Chat
There is increasing demand for distance advising
due to mandatory orientation for registration.
Current methods for providing distance advising are
outdated and inefficient. Utilizing a video chat
system will increase the likelihood that information is
viewed and understood.
Demand for distance advising will continue to
increase if efforts to recruit more out of state
students are successful.
4. Redesign
The School of Business advising website needs to
have more detailed information about career options
and placement data. Outcomes are important to all
our stakeholders (students and the public).
We plan to create videos with employers, alumni
and faculty discussing potential career paths and the
strengths of the program.
Those videos paired with placement data will serve
as effective marketing material to prospective
students.
5. Impact
3,393 declared business majors taking classes
1,800 students admitted to the SBA who took classes
within the past year
1,079 PSU applications for 2013 are pending review,
from students who have indicated they plan to major
or minor in business.
1,000+ prospective students currently working toward
admission to PSU and the SBA at local community
colleges.
6. Implementation
Utilize award money to purchase six laptops to use for
video chat advising and at recruiting/orientation functions
Produce professional quality videos for the website and
enhance existing content with placement statistics
Hire a web designer to assist us in the redesign to make
the Undergraduate Programs Website more intuitive.
