Make Futures Brighter Today
City Year Boston cybcommunications@cityyear.org
Wed 12/14, 8:31 AM
Right here in Boston, City Year AmeriCorps members help thousands of students get back on
track toward academic success.
Kevin* is one of those students. He goes to the Condon K-7 School, and last year he worked
with City Year AmeriCorps member Heather. As a 5th grader, Kevin struggled with
comprehension and was at a 3rd grade reading level. Over the course of the school year,
Heather provided him with individualized support and study tips, reinforcing the instruction of
her partner teacher, Mrs. Troy.
With Heather’s encouragement, Kevin built up his self-confidence, a trait all students need to
succeed inside and outside of the classroom. And by the time summer arrived, Kevin had
improved three reading levels and was ready to enter 6th grade.
Condon Principal Robert Chisholm shared why he believes City Year is so important.
Your investment in City Year Boston will drive the impact of our dedicated AmeriCorps
members, supporting their great work in Boston Public Schools. Together, we can help
more students like Kevin succeed.
Please consider making a donation to support City Year Boston and the students we serve.
Thank you for making futures brighter across the city. Warm wishes to you and your loved
ones this holiday season!
