• A number of large banks, energy companies and
trading houses will work together to develop a trading
platform for raw materials based on blockchain technology.
• ING, ABN Amro and Shell, among others, are
participating in the initiative. BP, Gunvor, Société
Générale and Statoil are also involved from other
countries.
• The partners want to digitize the processes involved in
energy transactions and thus get rid of the traditional
paper contracts and documentation. The new platform
must also reduce administrative risks.
• The platform will be managed as an independent company
and is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.

• According to these parties, the blockchain based trading
platform will ensure the safe handling of transactions in
real time, and the open source platform will be accessible
to all users.
• More and more sectors experiment with blockchain: for
example, pension administration organizations APG and
PGGM recently announced that they had successfully
completed the first phase of an experiment with a block-
board application for pension administration. In time, a fully
developed prototype must lead to more flexibility and lower
costs.

#2: Bringing Renewable Energy to the World Using
Blockchain Technology
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bringing-renewable-energy-world-using-blockchain-technology/
• Modern energy services are vital to human well-being and to a country’s economic development, yet according to the
International Energy Agency (IEA), globally 1.2 billion people lack access to electricity. It’s thought that around 95
percent of these people are in either sub-Saharan Africa or developing Asia, with 80 percent in rural areas.
• Ethereum-based platform ImpactPPA is attempting to turn on the lights using the power of the blockchain.
• ImpactPPA aims to disrupt renewable energy to finance and accelerate global clean energy production by decentralizing
and tokenizing energy generation through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Blockchain Technology

• The SmartPPA is the lynchpin of the new system and
permits anyone, anywhere, to create a proposal for a
project of any size.
• According to Bates, the team has more than 200
megawatts in discussion for PPAs around the world that
they expect to begin executing within the next six months.
• Delivering this energy to smart meters that are connected
to the blockchain allows for government, utility companies,
businesses or individuals to decentralize the flow of power
while using the best of the blockchain to ensure trust and
security of the power generated and transmitted.

#3:Insurers are performing tests with Blockchain
since October!

• The system built by the consortium must ensure that
insurance contracts can be tracked more easily and
securely. In the long run, this can increase the productivity
for all parties involved by 30 percent. Next year the system
must go towards the production phase.
• In addition to Aegon and Achmea, major insurers such as
Allianz, Generali and reinsurers such as Munich Re and
Swiss Re are participating in the blockchain system.
• An international group of insurers, including Achmea
and Aegon, has taken a big step in applying the
blockchain principle in the sector.
• The Blockchain Insurance Industry Initiative (B3i) has a
prototype and plans to test it from next month.
