What Can You Expect To Get Out Of This
Meeting:
• Employers will partner with the coordinator in order
to prepare students for success.
• Help students make connection between school & work.
• Provide students with the necessary skills to become
career and workforce ready.
• Help create programs that teach 21st Century skills

Work-Based Learning Program
The program affords East Islip students a realistic
work experience that relates directly to their career
goals. It assists in the further development of skills
and positive attitudes toward work and school, &
helps to ensure a student successful employment.
4. Components of the WBL
Program
• Non-Paid work experiences held during or after
school for juniors & seniors.
• Successful students work for 54 hours during
the school year spread over a two year period.
• WBL Programs are part of student’s CTE curriculum.
• Additional opportunities include Job
Shadowing, Mentoring, Guest Speaking, and
Company Tours.
• All WBL programs include classroom
instruction.

A: 4
Q: Do I have to attend all the SBP meetings?
A: We understand that your schedule is demanding, we
would love to have you attend all of them, but we
understand that at times there may be conflicts. You
can just email the coordinators and you can find out
what your committee is working on.

partnership?
A: Absolutely, we would love that.
Q: Is there a financial requirement?
A: No, you are not expected to pay anything from your
business to join or participate. Many businesses do
sponsor events or contribute to events, if you do
sponsor an event then your company name
highlighted at the event if you do.
