2. Introduction
• Since 2009, Ashkan Khabazian, DPharm, has served as a clinical pharmacist in the
Emergency Department of Sharp HealthCare in San Diego. Outside of his professional
activities, Ashkan Khabazian supports several nonprofit groups, including St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital.
In addition to overseeing programs to assist children and their families affected by life-
threatening illnesses, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital pursues various educational
outreach initiatives. Through the St. Jude Cancer Education for Children Program, the
organization visits local classrooms and libraries to teach students about cancer science and
the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Also known as Cure4Kids for Kids, the program features three modules focused on cells,
cancer, and healthy living. The curriculum was developed by St. Jude faculty and staff
members, and all on-site learning activities are led by volunteer researchers known as St.
Jude Ambassadors.
Along with teaching about cancer science, prevention, and treatment, Cure4Kids for Kids
seeks to help elementary, middle, and high school students learn more about careers in
