Tineyi Mawocha, Standard Bank Swaziland
Managing Director
Tineyi Mawocha, is Managing Director at Standard Bank Swaziland
Limited. He holds an HND in Hotel & Catering Management from Bulawayo
Polytechnic, an MBA from University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in
Development Finance (cum-laude) from University of Stellenbosch. He has
over 6 years experience in international hospitality management. In 1995, he was appointed
Managing Director of Nando’s Zimbabwe. He was later promoted to Regional Developments
Director for Innscor Africa. Tineyi started fast food retail operations in Zambia, Mozambique,
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. He joined Standard Bank in 2001 as Area Business Manager
and was promoted to Director Branch Network in 2002. In December 2005, he was
transferred and promoted to Swaziland. Tineyi was Chairman of SADC Banking Association
from 2009 till early 2012 and is the current President of the Federation of Swaziland
Employers & Chamber of Commerce.
Sanjeev Anand, Banque Commerciale du Rwanda Ltd
Managing Director
Sanjeev Anand was appointed as Managing Director of BCR in May, 2009.
Prior to joining BCR, he was employed as an international staff with Citibank
where he worked in various businesses globally and held a number of CEO
and other senior appointments with Citibank across Asia, Africa and Europe.
In all he has over 25 years of experience in corporate, investment and retail banking. During
his career, Sanjeev has been associated with several landmark transactions in sectors such
as oil, gas, telecommunications, power, consumer, food products and airlines in different
countries. He provided leadership in pioneering the introduction of electronic payment system
systems, SME financing programs, entrepreneur development facilities and other important
financial initiatives. He was engaged in the formation of Lusaka and Uganda Stock exchanges
and the Capital Markets Authority in Uganda as well as legislative enactments such as
mortgage law, listing guidelines, commercial paper guidelines. He was a member of the BASEL
task force in Poland. Sanjeev has worked along with governments, private and public sector,
DFI’s and multilateral agencies on handling sovereign debt issues, infrastructure financing
and other development initiatives in Africa. He is currently the Chairman of Rwanda Leasing
Association, deputy Chairman of Rwanda Bankers Association and a member of the Steering
Committee for East Africa Association Monetary Union. He is also the Rwanda Chairman of
East Africa Association. Under his leadership, the Bank has won The Global Finance award
for two successive years. Sanjeev holds a First Class Honors degree in Commerce from Delhi
University and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India.
Hennie Ferreira, MicroFinance South Africa

Petrus Hendrik (Hennie) Ferreira is the Chief Executive Officer for
MicroFinance South Africa. He is a seasoned microfinance specialist in the
region. A sociologist from the University of Stellenbosch, Hennie studied

to launch as part of its offering, cell phone banking that works across all the networks and all
phones and SIM cards. WIZZIT solves not only an accessibility and affordability issue but from
a convenience point of view offers 24/7 real time transactions and hence is “Your Bank in
Your Pocket.” WIZZIT is recognized as the global pioneer in mobile banking. Brian is listed in
Who’s Who of South African Business as well as the International Biography of Distinguished
Leaders. He is an Ashoka Fellow – a global network of social entrepreneurs. He has lectured
and presented at seminars and conferences throughout the world and was recently invited by
the Clinton Global Initiative to present the WIZZIT model as a means to “Bank a Billion”. In
South Africa, WIZZIT operates as a division of the South African Bank of Athens limited but
we have launched mobile Banking in Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Romania with other
countries in the process of being finalised. Brian is married to an equally entrepreneurial wife
and has 2 daughters and twin boys.
Sonny Zulu, Standard Chartered Bank Zambia Plc
Head of Consumer Banking
Sonny is the Head of the Consumer Banking Business for Standard Chartered
Bank in Zambia. Most recently he was the General Manager in charge of
Distribution and Alternate Channels for the Bank in Southern Africa covering
Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Sonny joined Standard Chartered Bank
in 2003 in the Consumer Banking business and in 2004, he moved to Corporate Affairs in an
acting capacity until he was later appointed as country Head of Corporate Affairs in 2005.
In 2007, he moved back into the main business stream as country General Manager for all
Distribution channels until 2011 when he was appointed General Manager for Southern
Africa in charge of Distribution and Alternate Channels. As Head of Consumer Banking, Sonny
is responsible for managing the Bank’s retail banking business with responsibilities over both
the personal banking business and the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). He has wide
experience and knowledge in managing Distribution Channels which include Branch Banking,
Online Banking, Mobile Banking, ATMs and Contact Centres. Sonny holds an MBA from
Manchester Business School and he also has a degree in Metallurgy from the University of
Zambia. He is married to Ngosa and he has two sons – Joshua and Josiah. Outside the work
arena, Sonny enjoys travelling, space science, natural history and following latest natural
and science discoveries.

Yolande van Wyk is the CEO for eWallet Solutions at FNB. Yolande and her

Yolande joined FNB in 2004 and was part of the original Cellphone
Banking team that revolutionised mobile banking in South Africa. Her roles included

Ozkan Erener is the president and a co-founder of VeriPark, a software

Lana Strydom currently holds the position of Head of Digital Marketing and

Lincoln has 15 years in the industry and joined Standard Bank 10 years
ago. He is responsible for Physical Channels (Branches, Business and Private
Banking Suites), Direct Channels (Customer Contact (Call) Centres, ATMs,
Internet Banking, and Mobile/Cellphone Banking), Alternative Channels
(Access Points, Loan Centres, Sales staff on variable pay), and all remaining sales forces
including Financial Planners. Over the last four years he has lead the 14000-plus staff
complement along a unique, extremely ambitious ‘Channel Convenience journey’ which
aims to integrate the myriad of channels and make banking a ‘seamless’, even enjoyable,

Leoni Groenewald, JD Group

Leoni first ventured into the financial services industry by means of actuarial
studies, working at Hollard Life. It was there, by being part of establishing
Hollard Direct Solutions that Leone was exposed to IT and developed a
love for ICT. Leone moved to the UK where she pursued this passion and
formalised training in this discipline. Upon completion of her studies Leone started a business
very much focused on internet technologies and strategies, developing micro-sites for big
name companies such as Shell and Coca-Cola. After 8 years in the UK, Leone returned to
South Africa where she focused on consulting engagements mostly pertaining to Business
Process Optimisation and related IT implementations across the telecoms, banking and retail
and financial industry sectors. Leone was asked to join the JD Group as an IT executive and
finally got the position of CIO for the New Business Division of JDG where the focus was on
innovative banking practices and payment methods.

Dotun Adeniyi is an Executive Director and is currently Chief Risk Officer at
Skye Bank. He has over 25 years banking experience, spanning Corporate,
Commercial and Retail Banking. Prior to his appointment as Chief Risk
Officer in 2010, Dotun was Executive Director in charge of Retail banking,
where he led several initiatives and played a pivotal role in the bank’s retail strategy. Dotun

Chief Operating Officer | CEO – The Mauritius Leasing
Company Ltd
Mr Ashraf Esmael, 44 is the Chief Operating Officer with Bramer Bank and
at the same time he is the Chief Executive Officer of The Mauritius Leasing
Company Limited, the pioneer leasing company in Mauritius since 1987and
the only Asset Finance Company listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. Mauritius
Leasing is part of the British American Investment Group, one of the largest conglomerates in

During his tenure with Mauritius Leasing, he initiated the structuring and setting up of the
first and only specialised fleet management operation in Mauritius to provide full maintenance

solutions) including real estate leasing, floor plan financing and Micro Financing solutions in
Mauritius. Mr Esmael participates in various professional and business associations such as
the Mauritian Institute of Management and the Mauritian Chamber of Commerce & Industry
and he is presently the Chairman of the Association of Leasing Companies in Mauritius. He
has also acted as panel member and speaker in financial services workshops organised by
the Financial Services Commission, the Central Bank in Mauritius and Global Conferences in
the African and EMEA region on topics such as Broadening Access to Financial Services and
Islamic Finance & Capital Markets. Mr Esmael is an experienced and strategically minded
business person with proven capabilities in leadership and innovation. He holds qualifications
in Management Accountancy and Information Technology including a Master in Business

Tineyi Mawocha, Standard Bank Swaziland Managing Director Tineyi Mawocha, is Managing Director at Standard Bank Swaziland Limited. He holds an HND in Hotel & Catering Management from Bulawayo Polytechnic, an MBA from University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Development Finance (cum-laude) from University of Stellenbosch. He has over 6 years experience in international hospitality management. In 1995, he was appointed Managing Director of Nando’s Zimbabwe. He was later promoted to Regional Developments Director for Innscor Africa. Tineyi started fast food retail operations in Zambia, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. He joined Standard Bank in 2001 as Area Business Manager and was promoted to Director Branch Network in 2002. In December 2005, he was transferred and promoted to Swaziland. Tineyi was Chairman of SADC Banking Association from 2009 till early 2012 and is the current President of the Federation of Swaziland Employers & Chamber of Commerce. Sanjeev Anand, Banque Commerciale du Rwanda Ltd Managing Director Sanjeev Anand was appointed as Managing Director of BCR in May, 2009. Prior to joining BCR, he was employed as an international staff with Citibank where he worked in various businesses globally and held a number of CEO and other senior appointments with Citibank across Asia, Africa and Europe. In all he has over 25 years of experience in corporate, investment and retail banking. During his career, Sanjeev has been associated with several landmark transactions in sectors such as oil, gas, telecommunications, power, consumer, food products and airlines in different countries. He provided leadership in pioneering the introduction of electronic payment system systems, SME financing programs, entrepreneur development facilities and other important financial initiatives. He was engaged in the formation of Lusaka and Uganda Stock exchanges and the Capital Markets Authority in Uganda as well as legislative enactments such as mortgage law, listing guidelines, commercial paper guidelines. He was a member of the BASEL task force in Poland. Sanjeev has worked along with governments, private and public sector, DFI’s and multilateral agencies on handling sovereign debt issues, infrastructure financing and other development initiatives in Africa. He is currently the Chairman of Rwanda Leasing Association, deputy Chairman of Rwanda Bankers Association and a member of the Steering Committee for East Africa Association Monetary Union. He is also the Rwanda Chairman of East Africa Association. Under his leadership, the Bank has won The Global Finance award for two successive years. Sanjeev holds a First Class Honors degree in Commerce from Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Hennie Ferreira, MicroFinance South Africa Chief Executive Officer Petrus Hendrik (Hennie) Ferreira is the Chief Executive Officer for MicroFinance South Africa. He is a seasoned microfinance specialist in the region. A sociologist from the University of Stellenbosch, Hennie studied microfinance from Colarado and Harvard Business School in the US. Sonny Zulu, Standard Chartered Bank Zambia Plc Head of Consumer Banking Sonny is the Head of the Consumer Banking Business for Standard Chartered Bank in Zambia. Most recently he was the General Manager in charge of Distribution and Alternate Channels for the Bank in Southern Africa covering Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Sonny joined Standard Chartered Bank in 2003 in the Consumer Banking business and in 2004, he moved to Corporate Affairs in an acting capacity until he was later appointed as country Head of Corporate Affairs in 2005. In 2007, he moved back into the main business stream as country General Manager for all Distribution channels until 2011 when he was appointed General Manager for Southern Africa in charge of Distribution and Alternate Channels. As Head of Consumer Banking, Sonny is responsible for managing the Bank’s retail banking business with responsibilities over both the personal banking business and the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). He has wide experience and knowledge in managing Distribution Channels which include Branch Banking, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, ATMs and Contact Centres. Sonny holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and he also has a degree in Metallurgy from the University of Zambia. He is married to Ngosa and he has two sons – Joshua and Josiah.
