Teachers help promote
gender equality in
education not by treating
boys and girls the same but
by appreciating and
supporting their different
needs, aspirations and
potentials in the classroom.
 Use gender neutral language
 Avoid organizing children according to gender
 Avoid stereotyping children
 There are several subconscious assumption, which will
affect our behavior and expectation towards the children
Self regulation
 Encourage all children to share feelings and emotions
equally
Avoid preconceived ideas about gender
Assigning roles to the children irrespective
of gender
 Teacher must assign roles and responsibilities to the
students without considering their gender
Distributing learning material equally
 Teacher should ensure that all the learning materials
are distributed to all the students equally without any
discrimination based on the gender of the learner.
Awareness on sex education
 While organizing awareness programs on sex
education there must be initiative to provide
knowledge to both the gender
Sightng gender fair examples in classroom
 Teacher can use gender fair examples , suitable o both the
gender wile teaching.
Moral stories for moral support
 To ensure gender equality teacher can use moral
stories on the importance of mutual respect between
men and women in the classroom
Showing inspirational films and videos in
the classroom
 Inspirational films and videos depicting the
need and importance of gender equality for the
improvement of the society can be shown in
the classroom during leisure time or at some
occasion
Women Action Group
 Focus on education for women's equality
 Work with more than 1.2 million women from
40,000 villages in 10 Indian states
 The premise of the programs is that social norms
deprive Indian women of social and economic power
 For these norms to change, women needs to lead
change
The programs approach to education
focus on experiential learning
Group of women work together and are
encouraged to engage in activities
relevant to the group's need
They learn to change current social
norms and break gender stereotypes
Many women suffer from self-esteem and
confidence problems and need a supportive
environment such supports are provided by these
groups.

Role of Teacher and Women's Action Group

  • 3. Teachers help promote gender equality in education not by treating boys and girls the same but by appreciating and supporting their different needs, aspirations and potentials in the classroom.
  • 4.  Use gender neutral language  Avoid organizing children according to gender  Avoid stereotyping children  There are several subconscious assumption, which will affect our behavior and expectation towards the children
  • 5. Self regulation  Encourage all children to share feelings and emotions equally Avoid preconceived ideas about gender
  • 6. Assigning roles to the children irrespective of gender  Teacher must assign roles and responsibilities to the students without considering their gender
  • 7. Distributing learning material equally  Teacher should ensure that all the learning materials are distributed to all the students equally without any discrimination based on the gender of the learner.
  • 8. Awareness on sex education  While organizing awareness programs on sex education there must be initiative to provide knowledge to both the gender
  • 9. Sightng gender fair examples in classroom  Teacher can use gender fair examples , suitable o both the gender wile teaching. Moral stories for moral support  To ensure gender equality teacher can use moral stories on the importance of mutual respect between men and women in the classroom
  • 10. Showing inspirational films and videos in the classroom  Inspirational films and videos depicting the need and importance of gender equality for the improvement of the society can be shown in the classroom during leisure time or at some occasion

Women Action Group  Focus on education for women's equality  Work with more than 1.2 million women from 40,000 villages in 10 Indian states  The premise of the programs is that social norms deprive Indian women of social and economic power  For these norms to change, women needs to lead change
  • 12. The programs approach to education focus on experiential learning Group of women work together and are encouraged to engage in activities relevant to the group's need They learn to change current social norms and break gender stereotypes
  • 13. Many women suffer from self-esteem and confidence problems and need a supportive environment such supports are provided by these groups.
