Aim of the Project
The aim of the project is to study about the basic consumer rights which are given to every single
individual of this country under the act which was established in year 1986 and is called
Consumer Protection act. In this research the main focus will be on these basic rights given to
every consumer for his own benefit and no one can violate these rights, there will be also some
referred cases which were of this same kind and will focus on consumer protection from any
cheat or betray by the sellers under the consumer protection act.
Research Methodology
Doctrinal method of Research: In this type of research we go through the literature and web
sources available on the subject matter which provided needful contribution required in proper
completion of the project and thereon propound conclusion based on the study. The information
in the project has been represented to the best of knowledge and availability of means and
resources. To present the information due care has been taken to present the material in correct
perspective.A number of sources of information were consulted such as books, magazines,
Internet etc.. This project is purely doctrinal in nature as it is based on researches already
generated from the sources already researched.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS :
Against this background, there are certain critical questions to be analysed, as follows:
 What are the special development contexts for promulgating/enforcing laws and
regulations on consumer protection in developing economies, such as India?
 Should there be a separate regulatory body taking charge of Unfair Trade Practices or
should the hybrid model be followed? What should be the design of the future regulatory
body, in view the possible resource constraints (both financial and human) in developing
economy?
