I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who helped me in this topic of
research. I extend my sincere acknowledgements to my teacher and mentor Dr.
R.K. Yadav Sir who gave me this wonderful opportunity to make a project on
Consumer rights under Consumer ProtectionAct . I am deeply indebted to him
helping me with his able guidance and advice in choosing this particular topic.

4. Aim of the Project
The aim of the project is to study about the basic consumer rights which are given to every single
individual of this country under the act which was established in year 1986 and is called
Consumer Protection act. In this research the main focus will be on these basic rights given to
every consumer for his own benefit and no one can violate these rights, there will be also some
referred cases which were of this same kind and will focus on consumer protection from any
cheat or betray by the sellers under the consumer protection act.
Research Methodology
Doctrinal method of Research: In this type of research we go through the literature and web
sources available on the subject matter which provided needful contribution required in proper
completion of the project and thereon propound conclusion based on the study. The information
in the project has been represented to the best of knowledge and availability of means and
resources. To present the information due care has been taken to present the material in correct
perspective.A number of sources of information were consulted such as books, magazines,
Internet etc.. This project is purely doctrinal in nature as it is based on researches already
generated from the sources already researched.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS :
Against this background, there are certain critical questions to be analysed, as follows:
What are the special development contexts for promulgating/enforcing laws and
regulations on consumer protection in developing economies, such as India?
Should there be a separate regulatory body taking charge of Unfair Trade Practices or
should the hybrid model be followed? What should be the design of the future regulatory
body, in view the possible resource constraints (both financial and human) in developing
economy?
5. INTRODUCTION:
Consumer protection is a group of laws and organizations designed to ensure
the rights of consumers as well as fair trade, competition and accurate information in the
marketplace. The laws are designed to prevent businesses that engage in fraud or specified unfair
practices from gaining an advantage over competitors.In other words, The consumer rights are
to be safe,informed,choose, and give input to the producers of the goods and services they use.
The act recognizes six rights of the consumer:
right to safety,
right to be informed,
right to choose,
right to be heard,
right to ' redress, and
right to consumer education.
Scope Of The study
The scope of the study of subject matter of consumer rights under COPRA to bring out the basic
variance in different types of consumer rights that is provided or listed by under the constituition
of India and To know the various heads in the context of rights provided by the law.

The projects defines and describes all the unfair trade practices, defining how it affects
consumers adversely. It also suggest about the possible measures and all the provisions as to
avoid unfair trade practices and to ensure consumers total protection from being victimised under
any such practices and what are the basic rights that prevents the unfair trade practices from
happening.
