Areli participated in various courses and conferences that helped develop important skills. She took a business speaking course that helped her present with confidence and clarity. At a symposium, guest speakers emphasized the importance of prioritizing work through positive attitude. A multicultural conference helped Areli develop skills in understanding different cultures and solving global issues. Volunteering for a food drive taught Areli the value of demonstrating initiative to ensure volunteer projects succeed.

As a member of the Business Living Learning
Community, I participate in courses and
workshops related to business. For example, I
completed the Business and Professional
Speaking course. I learned how to present my
information with confidence and clarity.

3. PRIORITIZING WORK
As a member of the Association of Latino
Professionals in Finance and Accounting, I
attended the National Regional Symposium in
Houston. I learned how to prioritize my work
from the guest speakers. They expressed the
importance of how having a positive attitude
is the key to prioritizing work. Since attending
this symposium, I understand how my positive
attitude will lead me to focus on my college
and work-related priorities.

4. UNDERSTANDING CULTURES
As a self motivated student, I registered to
attend the Multicultural Awareness
Conference for Leadership. I developed the
skill of understanding different cultures
because I participated in workshops that
required critical problem solving of global
human rights issues.

5. DEMONSTRATING INITIATIVE
During my experience as a volunteer for a
food drive sponsored by the Campus Ministry
at my college, I developed the skill of
demonstrating initiative. I helped sort food
into boxes designated for different families in
the community. I learned that for a volunteer
project to be successful, I need to be helpful
even when the team leaders may not be
telling me exactly what I need to do.
