I consistently obtained high teaching evaluation scores and strong qualitative reviews. Across my classes, I
fostered high rates of engaged and active participation in class. I also closely mentored students on possible career paths
and professional interests. Nearly every semester, on their own volition, students awarded plaques, dedicated videos, crafted
hand-written thank you notes, dedicated poems and sent emails to express they were grateful, inspired, and felt
professionally and personally empowered after my courses, even when some lost hope.

 My mentee, whose paper, “Biracial Identity in Japan: A Whole ‘Hafu’ Life,” and presentation I advised, won first
place at the Virginia Collegiate Honors Council competition, a highly competitive state-wide research project

Battleground States Conference, a local BGSU graduate conference. For my efforts, the Cultural Studies Scholars’
Association awarded me the Cultural Studies Scholars' Association Scholarship Grant and shared the following:
“Culture Club was impressed with your ability to inspire eight undergraduate students to present their papers
at this year’s Conference. This is the first time in the Conference’s history where one teacher, undergraduate
