1. Dear Sir Madam
At my invitation Aorpa Afroza participated in the University of Auckland Business School’s Women’s
Mentoring Programme in 2015. This elite programme matches the School’s female students
(mentees) with mentors who are drawn from our vast business networks.
Only a select few are identified and in order to meet the selection criteria mentees must have shown
a high level of sustained academic performance and a strong commitment to student life, voluntary
work or other extra‐curricular activities.
Throughout the programme Aorpa has shown a high level of commitment and has actively engaged
in the full range of opportunities which formed part of the wider programme including guest speaker
events, career development workshops and networking activities.
I have no doubt that Aorpa’s commitment to the programme will have helped her develop a broad
range of transferable skills and will greatly assist her personal and professional development in the
following areas;
 Preparing for the transition from university to full‐time employment
 Relating theoretical studies to current business practice and obtaining an insight into a range
of industries.
 Networking and developing relationships
 Creating a great first impression
 Dealing with conflict in the workplace
 Balancing work/life and leisure
I am confident that the skills and experiences Aorpa gained through her involvement in the
Women’s Mentoring Programme, combined with the first class education she has received at the
Business School, will ensure that she is well placed to embark on a successful and rewarding career
and that she will be an asset to any future employer.
