13. Five cardinal principles: All the SHGs are
following these 5 basic tenets. These include:
i. Regular meetings
ii. Regular savings
iii. Regular inter loaning
iv. Timely repayment of loans
v. Maintenance of Book of Accounts
14. Saving habits.
RF Utilization leading to inter-loaning.
Gradual convergence.
Decision making within the household.
Participation in local government.
Increased communication level and self
confidence among the members.
Frequency of interaction with outsiders.
Community participation.
15. Case study; rather
success stories
Neisavino Mera:
A single mother whose group is
engaged in tomato farming has
been able to enhance her
livelihood. RF has been of great
help for her and have managed to
start petty business. She could
now save money monthly.
Vikehietou SHG:
A group of 10 members who were
motivated to continue their group
while attending NRLM
sensitization program in 2013.
This is a group that had bitter
experience in the banking sector
which was the reason for
dissolving. Joining NRLM has
made them able to be accepted in
the bank and receive money
without delay. This has been their
biggest achievement. They have
carried out various activities
including social services.
16. What is Economic Growth?
It basically measures the total volume of goods and services produced in an
economy.
What is Economic Development?
It looks at a wider range; concern with how people are actually affected.
What is development?
Development is concerned with the improvement of the quality of life
19. To alleviate poverty
To increase employment opportunity
To raise status in society
To promote income generating activities
To accelerate economic growth
To have a sustainable development for the
well being of the poor
20.
21. Nagaland state has an economy
that is cash poor meaning saving is
not taking place. Therefore, it limits
the poor from quality education,
health, etc.
As have identified this problem,
NSRLM comes into rescue to enable
the poor in alleviating their poverty.
Since NSRLM is just about 2 years
old, the impact of the
implementation could not be
analyzed; yet gradual change could
be seen.
Therefore, it has a challenge to
build inclusive growth; an economic
growth with development to reduce
poverty, economic and social
disparities and foster balance
development.
