4. WHY DOES THE GAP STILL
EXIST?
LOSS OF SCIENTIFIC TEMPER happened when we failed to socialise the science
India is one among the world
nations to constitutionalize the
concept of scientific temper
as a fundamental duty
Of every citizen
Science, Technology and Innovation
policy of 2013 also stressed on
“promoting the spread of scientific
temper amongst all sections of
society” as the first objective
5. CONCEPT OF OPEN SCIENCE
CENTRE
• an inclusive engaging and learning space
where community gets on hand
experience and knowledge on basic and
advanced science ,in their own language.
• easy and guided accessibility of science
and technology at the local community
level
• Space where local scientific knowledge
can be disseminated and processed.
6. OBJECTIVES OF OSC
• Socialization of science and science
education (basic and advanced) through
effective science communication
• scientific empowerment of local communities
• environment generation at grass roots level
for infusing scientific temper, especially
among youth
• platform for catalyzing research attitude
among people and to engage with current
and cutting edge knowledge at local level.
7. FUNCTIONAL METHODOLOGY
• youth centered multidimensional interventions
• Establishing experimental set up in OSC’s
• Local resource mobilization carried out through
community members themselves.
• Conducting open debate, symposiums,
workshops etc
• Facilitating action science researches at
community level
• Bringing amateur and professional scientists
/researches at one stage
8. EXPECTED OUTCOMES
• Network creation of teachers,
educators, volunteers, policy makers
and scientists could be created under
OSC which welcomes global initiatives
at the ground level.
• professional-amateur collaborations
• Initiating a nationwide open science
movement
9. “The strategic priority that should be given to science
education cannot be solely happen by institutional
framework or policy formulations. But on ground
interventions should happen where people themselves
being the scientists and engage in scientific activities.”
And that’s what OSC intends to do.
Editor's Notes
CONCEPT DEVELOPED BASED ON 2 IDEAS: 1: Should address “Why youth and science are the answers for sustainable global change?”
(STEM subjects) advancements
LIST OUT SOME ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIA IN THE PAST DECADES
2: BT WE COULDN’T TRANSFORM THE SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS INTO SOCIETAL PROGRESS AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Existence of gap
Pin pointing scientific temper , what and why?
OSC is a multifaceted perspective
foreign nations are focusing more on developing osc with open standards
Explain in detail
The Idea of an Open Science Center (OSC), thus, is conceived within the frame of a larger study on devolving scientific knowledge at local sphere
How the OSC should function and activities that can be taken up under osc
functional and behavioral knowledge has to be considered
Ultimately what OSC look forward to
Explain about some of the activities taken up by OSF
