5. Analysis- The Body Shop
There are multiple aims to most of The Body Shop campaigns ranging from environmental issues to
protests about important world problems. The posters i have selected cover replantation of trade products,
animal testing and their own “Change” initiative. However the main poster in the middle is not to gain
awareness for another campaign it is to induce an element of shock to the readers, breaking gender
stereotypes by having the women be the “future sportstar, prime minister, inventor, entrepreneur, and
philanthropist” while the male figure stands dominantly in the focus of the photo. This promotes gender
neutrality/equality and helps The Body Shop gain approval of a larger audience. While it can appear as
controversial to certain groups of people it overall spreads a positive message that more people will get
behind than stand against, increasing potential customers to The Body Shop.
