• Defination - seed deterioration can be define as the loss
of quality , viability and vigous either due to ageing or
effect of adverse environment factor .
• seed deterioration is also known as seed ageing .
• seed deterioration caused by ageing in production and storage and its
repair during early germination determine the performance of crop seed

11. Steps to prevent the seed deterioration
• Use only approved seed for multiplication
• Provide adequate and approved isolation distance to prevent natural crossing
• Proper cleaning of seeds should crossing
• Proper cleaning of seed should be done
• Certification of seed crops
• Use only certified seed to prevent from the seed deterioration

13. Wet treatment
• It required hydration to raised seed moisture as high as 25%-30% in water
along or in solution of different chemical followed by drying back to safe limit
of seed moisture for dry storage .
• The choice of a particular treatment would depend on the seed material
concerned and its initial seed vigous .
