3. Maki
The word maki actually means "roll" in Japanese. Maki includes all
types of sushi created with makisa and bamboo leaf.
4. Nigiri
A strip of vinegar sushi rice with a piece of fish on top. Sometimes
served with octopus or eel on top of rice. Nori can sometimes be used
to retain the shape of nigiri.
5. Hosomaki
Small maki rolls with filling inside. They contain fewer ingredients and
have only nori seaweed. They contain fewer ingredients and are
wrapped only in a leaf of seaweed.
6. Futomaki
The largest maki rolls, cut thinner because of their size. Contain many
ingredients as a filling.
8. Uramaki
Not very traditional and not very Japanese inside-out rolls with Nori
seaweed around and the ingredients in the middle, wrapped in rice
outside.
