Dear Dr. Sluder:
Cards for cans! We are pleased to propose a fun and creative way to help fight the
issue of hunger.
Background and Goals
Enactus is a student organization that enables progress through entrepreneurial
action. We know that Enactus has been involved in Campbell’s “Let’s Can Hunger”
campaign, agreeing to raise 5000 pounds. For one in six people hunger is a very real
issue. Last semester a group hosted a Casino Night for the first time. We want to
continue this fun activity to attract people to come help the cause. We plan to host a
Casino Night, where people can donate cans for poker chips, which they will use for
the different table games. We hope our contribution will have an impact on our
community through spreading awareness and collecting canned goods.
Proposed Plan
We will host a Casino Night at The PUB on campus. We believe that creating this event
will attract people to come help “can” hunger. Because we want a lot of people to
participate we need a couple weeks to coordinate and market the event (see
schedule). We plan to have people donate either cans or a monetary donation in
exchange for porker chips. People will not just be donating cans they will be having
fun and participating in a game which we believe will attract more people and raise
more cans.
Schedule
With your approval, the following schedule has been created for our event:
Marketing February 4th – March 4th
Casino Night March 6th
Staffing
We plan to have the normal PUB staff serving food and drinks. We plan to have our
group members and some friends that are game card experts, to work as the dealer at
the tables. Our team members, Meghan and Moses that have good customer relation
skills will run the greeting table. Where they will collect cans and donations, as well
as distribute the poker chips, and raffle tickets. The pub has chairs and tables that we
will use for the actual poker tables. We have felt that we will use to dress up the
tables.
2. Budget
We don’t have any expenses since our materials (cards, poker, and felt) are being
recycled from the casino night event last semester.
Authorization
We are convinced, Dr. Sluder that our fun and creative way to raise cans will be a
great success, yet again. We believe that the Casino Night will attract many people
and raise many cans.
Sincerely,
Bianca Lofton, Will Phillips, Meghan Del Castillo,
Anh Vu, Jacob Markow, and Moses M. Miyen
