The Public Health Institute (PHI) partners with PYXERA Global to implement the
Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II. PYXERA Global places highly-skilled
private sector professionals in immersive global health pro-bono assignments with
local NGOs to accelerate progress in key areas of global health. These professionals
are strategically matched with work that takes advantage of their specific expertise.
This utilizes the knowledge of the corporate volunteer and allows for cross-sector
perspectives to be shared and innovation inspired. PYXERA Global has helped
GHFP-II assess and execute nearly 30 projects in maternal and child health, family
planning, health systems, health policy, population-health-environment, health
financing, and others.

GHFP-II, led by the Public Health Institute and supported by PYXERA Global,
helps the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) address
its immediate and emerging human capital needs by developing a diverse group
of global health professionals to support and sustain the effectiveness of USAID’s
current and future health programs. As new health challenges emerge and complex
global initiatives are created to meet them, the ability to respond effectively
is crucial. The vision of GHFP-II is to develop a diverse group of global health
experts by recruiting, placing, and supporting health professionals at all levels for
Fellowships and Internships with USAID and its partner organizations.
Technical experts from the private sector serve as Global Health Champions to build and strengthen local
capacity in developing countries such as Zambia.
