GlobeMed supports the Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II to build a diverse
global health career pipeline. GlobeMed facilitates early-career overseas internships for
undergraduate students from backgrounds underrepresented in global health professions.
GHFP-II works with GlobeMed to develop new chapters at Minority Serving Institutions,
and provides funding for international work experience for students from minority
backgrounds. GlobeMed engages 2,000+ undergraduates at 50+ university-based, student-
led chapters throughout the US, and pairs these student groups with grassroots organizations
in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Undergraduates gain key cultural knowledge, and
experience in partnerships, which helps propel them in future global health careers.

GHFP-II, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
serves a higher public purpose by fostering a diverse cadre of technically excellent,
compassionate leaders. Taking a life-cycle approach, GHFP-II focuses on the career
pipeline to ensure the next generation is well prepared to enter the workforce
and succeed in long-term careers. As new health challenges emerge and complex
global initiatives are created to meet them, the ability to respond effectively is
crucial. Through partnership with GlobeMed, GHFP-II has reached thousands of
undergraduates and facilitated crucial early overseas experiences for more than 280
diverse students. Most of these students express a desire to continue their education
in pursuit of a career in global health.
GHFP-II and GlobeMed staff meet grassroots leaders in Uganda.
