controlled environment at Brussels Airport to serve the healthcare industry. We
have recently taken on an additional level of risk mitigation for the healthcare
industry, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
At BRUcargo, Brussels Airport presented a European first in cooperation
with Expeditors: the “Airside Pharma Transporter.” This passively conditioned
trailer holds pharmaceutical shipments within the correct temperature limits
during transportation between warehouses and aircraft. This is crucial because
incorrect transport temperatures can cause quarantining and ultimately rejection
of medicines.
Expeditors Center of Excellence GDP compliant Pharma Hub moves millions
of kilos of medical products per month to and from all parts of the world in a
controlled, secured and temperature stable condition.
We identified the variables that frequently lead to uncontrolled exposure and
excursions, implemented processes through facility investments, dedicated air
services, thermal blanket wrapped freight for added protection and continuous
monitoring and oversight to manage and minimize the risk to customer’s products.
Expeditors has won both the 2014 and 2015 awards for being the most
innovative company at Brussels Airport. In addition, Expeditors was an
innovation finalist for the 2015 Global Freight Award in London for the
“Transatlantic Healthcare Service”, a dedicated GDP and temperature
control compliant air service between BRU-IAD-BRU. We were also the first
forwarder to be certified as a IATA Healthcare Center of Excellence (CEIV).
And now, our participation in the innovative Airside Pharma Transporter at
Brussels Airport is another first for Expeditors. We are constantly looking for
ways to better serve our customers and protect their valuable products.
