United States Army Europe ITAM (Integrated Training Area Management) Program - GIS Analyst. Feb 2008 – June 2008
• As the Italy/Expeditionary GIS analyst, I am responsible for providing direct GIS support to the Regional Training Support
Directorates and Training Support Centers of Vicenza and Livorno in Italy, and the Expeditionary Training Support Division
(ETSD). This currently includes 38 Local Training Areas, Ranges and Drop Zones in Italy, plus additional responsibility for
Black Sea Area Support Team (BSAST) sites in Bulgaria and Romania; including exercise locations throughout Europe and
Africa.
• Throughout 2015 I have been largely involved in the reconnaissance team, throughout the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and
Estonia) and Poland for Operation Atlantic Resolve. Training Support Activity Europe (TSAE) was tasked to assist in the
assessment of the current and potential range complexes within the Polish and Baltic training areas, to enable U.S. soldiers
to qualify on Polish and Baltic ranges and train simultaneously with the Host Nation Army. Where facilities and infrastructure
was found to be sub-standard, the reconnaissance team assessed which facilities would benefit the most from U.S. Funding
to streamline U.S. / Host Nation training. After several trips to various locations during weeks of individual site visits, the team
were able to present their findings to the host nation’s Secretary of Defence and provide recommendations to the funding
necessary to improve facilities and improve defences to neighbouring countries of Russia.
• Responsible for creating and updating all standard SRP map products for these areas, as well as coordinating and carrying
out data acquisition and standardization for these installations. As Italy/Expeditionary analyst, I also support the operation of
the RSC by contributing to Military Installation Map development, event support, training and mentoring junior members of
staff, quality control, processing map requests and providing technical GIS support to SRP customers.
• This position is also responsible for taking the lead in all USAREUR SRP Map Production projects; ensuring cartographic
standards are consistent and data accuracy across the range of products is maintained.
• I am responsible for developing map production workflows and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring
completed maps are stored according to the SOP and made available via the various distribution media. (ARM, Kiosk, TAP IN
etc.)
• Responsible for ensuring all Arc SDE databases within USAREUR conform to the SDFIE (US Army) database standards, to
ensure uniformity throughout all US military GIS Databases worldwide.
• I have also been responsible for producing Military Installations Maps (MIMs) for USAREUR to the full NGA final standard. I
am currently the first person within USAREUR to ever complete three MIMs to the final standard.
• I regularly organise presentations for soldier command courses, briefing officers and soldiers on the GIS capabilities that are
available to them in the planning and preparation of military exercises.
• I have also attended the ESRI user’s conference in San Diego (CA) and presented in the Defence sector to military audiences
in July 2013.
Synergy Housing Group – GIS Development Officer Mar 2010 – July 2011
• Using ArcServer to create web based map applications using Arc Local View Fusion, tailored to the individual needs of
Surveyors, Neighbourhood Officers and the Grounds Maintenance Team.
• Using ArcIMS applications, linked to the company’s asset management database, so all employees are able to access a map
of the Synergy Properties to aid with the understanding of a dispute / encroachment etc.
• Solely responsible for the capture, analysis and dissemination of spatial data, for acquisitions and disposals of Synergy
Housing Group Land Assets across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
• Providing detailed spatial analysis of tenants, including Equality & Diversity, Rent Arrears, and ASBOs etc.
• Providing detailed spatial analysis to determine which areas of land our Grounds Maintenance Team are responsible for, by
liaising with the local council and neighbouring housing groups. In turn, this is saving the company over £50k in each of the
three districts that the company is responsible for.
• Updates to Synergy Boundaries, including the use of PAI (Positional Accuracy Improvement) and digital Land Registry data.
• Reading and understanding Synergy Housing Group title and lease deeds, taking into consideration any encroachments,
rights or easements.
• Other roles included liaising with customers, and producing small scale diagrammatic plans for deeds.
• Creating a Sustainability Model, providing detailed analysis on Key Performance Areas, improving strategic decisions
throughout the company.
• Training Surveyors and Neighbourhood Officers how to use the ESRI ArcMap software.
• Running stock reports to ensure all asset management is maintained to precise level.
Amey – Transport for London – GIS Analyst Mar 2009 – Feb 2010
• Inputting corrections, alterations and new road schemes into the TfL road network database (AIMS).
• Structuring Geo-databases to provide data in correct format to be uploaded and downloaded to Oracle Databases.
• Create and structure Geo-databases using ArcCatalog and Microsoft Access.
• Site survey inspections to view work that has been carried out along the road networks.
• Producing plans and reports to illustrate accuracy of work carried out by maintenance teams.
• Working with PAN London to produce a resilience network for the gritting routes to all emergency services, hospitals and
London bus stations throughout the 33 Boroughs of London.
• Analysing individual boroughs to determine which resilience networks do not include Emergency Services, Hospitals, Bus

The Crown Estate -Regent Street – GIS Data Capture Technician Dec 2008 – Mar 2009
• The capture, analysis and dissemination of spatial data, for Acquisitions and Disposals of Crown Estate Land Assets.
• Adding attributes to digitised plans using a custom developed toolbar, this was directly linked to Horizon, a data entry system
used for accounting purposes.
• Reading and understanding Crown Estate Title and lease deeds, taking into consideration any encroachments, rights or
easements.
SeaZone Solutions Ltd – UK Hydrographic Office – GIS Analyst Sept 2008 – Dec 2008
• Positional Accuracy Improvement (PAI) for the various levels of digital coastline mapping available.
• Using CadCorp and an in-house developed C # toolbar, all digital data was de-conflicted to the best possible scale available.
• This was then edge matched to provide a seamless coastline mapping with OS Master Map, with the help of the UKHO’s S57
attribution website.
Defence Estates Operations South – Data Manager, Geographic Information Office. May 2007 – Jan 2008
• The capture, analysis and dissemination of spatial data, for Acquisitions and Disposals of MoD (Ministry of Defence) Land
Assets.
• Working as part of a small team, this role involved the acquisition of data and creation of new themes, production of hard
copy and soft copy map products.
• Updates to MoD Boundaries, including the use of PAI (Positional Accuracy Improvement), and reproducing the Estate
Management Plans on a six monthly basis.
• I have also produced plans of the Blast Arcs for Naval Ships berthed at HMNB Portsmouth, showing worst case scenarios,
and illustrating potential infringements, for the proposed new Portsmouth Football Stadium.
• Other roles included liaising with customers, and producing small scale diagrammatic plans for deeds.
• I have also been responsible for archiving data, file restructuring and restoring links to lost data in archived Arc Projects.
British Army – Royal Engineers - Military Engineer, Geographic Production Technician (Class 2). April 2003- May 2007
• I have over four years experience within the British Army, with technical skills in areas of Military Engineering, GIS,
Cartography, Digital Pre-Press and Printing.
• I was operationally deployed for six months in a single post in the Falkland Islands, Main Headquarters of the British Forces
South Atlantic Islands. My position involved providing geographic capabilities within the Falkland Islands. This included terrain
analysis, production of cartographic products, both hard copy and soft copy.
• I helped in the planning and preparation of Exercises including providing vital geographical knowledge to aid war time
scenarios.
• The Army Survey course lasted over a year and covered many areas resulting in a Foundation Degree qualification upon
completion. These areas included basic geographic knowledge and imagery. This included map reading skills, imagery and
digital photography, IT and presentation skills.
