Sponsorship - Opportunities and Benefits
Network Kokoda is a not-for-profit organisation to
honour the legacy of our Kokoda veterans and the
PNG wartime carriers. It is an approved Developing
Country Relief Fund and eligible for tax deductibility.
Over the past five years Network Kokoda has
engaged a PNG Field Manager with a diploma in
Tropical Agriculture; developed the Sogeri Learning
Centre with a classroom, seed nursery and market
garden; built village Community Learning Centres at
Abuari and Kokoda; supported the development of
a fish farm at Menari; and established agricultural
programs that are providing fresh produce to 1200
boarding students at the Sogeri and Iaowari High
Schools.
We are now in negotiation to implement the
following initiatives in 2016 – 2017:
• The introduction of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Scheme into the PNG education system.
• The development of a Visitors/Research Centre
at Owers Corner for the 75th
anniversary of the
Kokoda campaign in partnership with Kumul
Consolidated Holdings in PNG
• The completion of a Kokoda Trail Heritage
Interpretation plan as a model for a wartime
tourism industry for PNG.
• A ‘Kokoda Bursary Program’ to provide
educational scholarships for PNG students.
Our major fundraising activity each year will be
organised around Kokoda Day on 3rd
November –
the anniversary of the day the Australian flag was
raised on the Kokoda plateau.
Our objective is to have every school in Australia
have a Kokoda Day service involving the raising of
the flag at their morning assembly. Students will be
asked to make a gold coin donation to support our
philanthropic work in PNG.
More than 40,000 Australians have trekked Kokoda
over the past decade. We plan to seek volunteers to
host annual functions in their cities and towns.
We will also have Kokoda trekker teams participate
in community events such as the City-to-Surf OXFAM
and other major fun-runs around Australia.
Our sponsors will be recognised as ‘Custodians of
the Spirit of Kokoda’ in our promotional material for
these events and activities.
Sponsors will also be able to use their association
with Network Kokoda for their own corporate
marketing.
We are seeking five $100 000 partnerships per year
for a five year period. Included in the sponsorship
package are:
• Corporate recognition on all Network Kokoda
marketing material and social media initiatives
• License to use the Network Kokoda logo in
corporate philanthropic reports
• A corporate leadership talk on the Kokoda
campaign and the spirit of survival by The Hon
Charlie Lynn OL
• Two places on an annual corporate leadership
trek organised by Adventure Kokoda and led by
Charlie Lynn
• A corporate table of 10 at the major Network
Kokoda dinner in Sydney each year.
• A mounted sterling silver Network Kokoda Logo
designed by Kara Jewellers in PNG
• A framed map of the Kokoda Trail with a
photograph of Private Bruce Kingsbury VC and
his replica medals which include the first Victoria
Cross awarded on Australian territory.
