Andrew has a broad experience in civil engineering projects over twenty five years in preliminary
planning, obtaining engineering approvals, survey, drafting, design, contract administration and
construction supervision in private and public sector organisations. He brings with him a balanced
mix of theory, experience and practical understanding. He has been involved in urban development
in residential, rural, commercial, industrial and resort developments and public infrastructure works.
His design experience includes road works, drainage, sewerage and water reticulation systems
within various regions of Australia. He is conscious of and understands the client’s needs for design
and documentation to be delivered within budget and timeframe.

Design Drafter | Toowoomba Regional Council - Oct 2015 – Current
Currently in the Transport & Drainage Section designing rural road upgrades, intersections and
associated roadwork improvements.
Contract Designer | Canaus Design May 2012 - June 2015
Contract design and drafting via “virtual office” to Darwin and Brisbane based consultancies on
civil projects within the Northern Territory using methods to interact with remote office in real
time using web based applications.
Duties:
 Horizontal and vertical alignment design and all associated works on adding overtaking
lanes to rural highways and rural intersection upgrades.
 Grading of car parks from minor commercial to large shopping centre developments.
 Design of rural subdivisions including open drainage channels.
 Design input on beef abattoir including grading of building earthworks pads and open
drainage areas plus design of internal roads to accommodate road trains.
 Preparing urban intersection and car park concept plans using swept path analysis.
Senior Contract Designer | Gold Coast City Council – Queensland 2007 – 2012
Collaborated with engineers to design drainage upgrades and retrofitting solutions to existing
urban areas. Projects varied from unique above ground inter-allotment drainage systems to
2km underground large pipe systems to solve existing flood mitigation problems.
Duties:
 Horizontal alignment design and hydraulic grading of upgraded pipe systems within
existing roads and service corridors including existing services relocations , restorations
and associated roadworks.
 Conversion of survey and GIS data to create 3d model data of existing service features.

2. Senior Contract Designer | Mortons Urban Solutions – Gold Coast Queensland 2004 – 2006
Lead designer for various civil projects ranging from 10 dwelling group title developments to
1000 lot master planned communities. Projects included environmentally sensitive areas,
significant slope sites, and innovative swale drainage solutions.
Duties:
 Assist in preparation of DA applications and operational works permits.
 Horizontal and vertical alignment design of roads, roundabouts, intersections and car parks
and associated works including signs and line marking.
 Design of underground piped and overland flow drainage systems including weirs, culverts,
retention and detention basins, and erosion control measures. Output of storm water drainage
calculations for relevant local authorities
 Design of non standard reduced infiltration gravity sewerage networks.

trunk sewer and water main systems. Duties similar to design tasks as per the above consultancy

2IC in construction supervision of all works on 50 to100 lot residential subdivisions.
Duties:
 Conversion of engineering drawings to 3d models for construction set out and GPS
machine guidance system and verification of information.
