Changing paradigms
According to the video called changing paradigms It mentions that each country is changing
its reforms for two important reasons. First it is an economic reason. Education refers to educate
children with economic purposes. The product should be something to report to the economy, this
means that the student is a human capital. Education is an investment in production. But this
investment is moved much slower than the economy.
On the other hand, there is a reason culture. The video mentions ‘’to be members of the world but at
the same time being themselves.’’ So this refers to maintain our culture.
But with globalization, maintain our culture is becoming more complicated and the problem is the
loss of our culture. It has been carried out for many years. History tells us that if we work hard, do
well and go to college, we will get a job. So if we do those things we will have a guarantee. But
children do not believe that if you do not go to college you won’t get a good job. Because they think
that there are things more important than production. Still we must motivate students, regardless of
where they study and we must change our paradigm of teacher ‘’vulnerable’’.
The current system was designed and conceived for a different age. Some cultivated their
knowledge and then they were to train people to respond to the industrial revolution.
And with this historical fact became obligatory education.
Before that, there are no systems of public education because Catholics churches controlated
education.
Economic world was asking to open public education to produce people. But it produced a
social structure in which some people weren’t able to learn. Thus, Non smart people or non
academic people, they will have heavy work. On the other hand, smart or academic people will not
have heavy work. Nowadays, this view (economic intellectual) has caused chaos.
The video also refers to attention deficit disorders and it mentions that there are no attention deficits
and even is invented by teachers. Even so, children are medicated and are compared with zombies.
They live in a word full stimulated with many activities, so school is boring for them and to
compare this with their daily activities, they prefer children entertainment and do not pay attention
to school.
Finally school is very similar to the industries, because in both there is a process that
responds to the economy. Education is and will be modeled of interests of money.
Unfortunately in this process just some opinions are respected, but these are not the students. As a
result, we are killing the creativity of the pupils. Therefore, we must change these paradigms, We
should encourage our students skills their interests and talents.
