  1. 1. We need a revolution
  2. 2. ‘Children starting school will be retiring in2070. Nobody has a clue what the worldwill look like in 5 years time. And yet weremeant to be educating them for it.’
  3. 3. ‘There were no public systems of educationreally before the 19th century. They allcame into being to meet the needs ofindustrialism.’
  4. 4. ‘We have built our education systems on the model of fast food. You know there are two models (…) One is fast food, whereeverything is standardized. The other are things like Zagat andMichelin restaurants, where everything is not standardized, theyre customized to local circumstances. And we have soldourselves into a fast food model of education, and itsimpoverishing our spirit and our energies as much as fast food isdepleting our physical bodies.’
  5. 5. One of the first messages you have to tellin Education is ‘you are unique’.Think about it: the economy calls for massive standardizationwhile real Education celebrates and encourages diversity.
  6. 6. Its about customizing to your circumstances andpersonalizing education to the people youre actuallyteaching. And doing that, I think, is the answer to the futurebecause its not about scaling a new solution; its aboutcreating a movement in education in which people developtheir own solutions, but with external support based on apersonalized curriculum.
