2015-2016 Season Highlights
Off the Ice
This season the South Carolina Stingrays have
contributed more than $120,000 to local non-profit
organizations through donations and in-game events.
Throughout the course of the year Stingrays players,
coaches and front office staff have volunteered more
than 520 hours in the Charleston community.

In-Game Highlights
The South Carolina Stingrays raised over $82,000 through postgame
jersey auctions and themed nights which were distributed to the following
organizations: South Carolina Advocates for Epilepsy, Share Our Suzy,
America’s Mighty Warriors and Mother Emanuel AME Church.

Teddy Bear Toss
On December 13th the South Carolina Stingrays hosted their 17th
annual Teddy Bear Toss against the Atlanta Gladiators.
Over 3,000 stuffed animals were collected for the Salvation Army
Angel Tree this season. The Salvation Army Angel Tree provides
assistance for underprivileged families to receive Christmas gifts
for children who may not be given any gifts otherwise.

Undie Sunday

The South Carolina Stingrays hosted their second annual
Undie Sunday on March 20th and collected items of
packaged socks and underwear that were donated to the
Carolina Youth Development Center.

Throughout the 2015-2016 season the South Carolina Stingrays
donated more than $120,000 to the Charleston community!
The South Carolina Stingrays are proud to support local
non-profits, businesses and schools in their fundraising efforts
through in-kind donations of tickets, autographed merchandise,
game day events and more!
Listed below are a few recipients during the 2015-2016 season

Charleston Youth Hockey Association
The South Carolina Stingrays partnered with the Jr. Rays and Little Rays
program at the Carolina Ice Palace. They have worked with youth hockey
members ranging from the ages of four to fifteen this past season.
Stingrays players and coaches have participated in drills, scrimmages,
clinics, and goaltending seminars with those in the youth hockey programs.

Charleston Youth Hockey Association
Youth Hockey programs in the Charleston area have had the opportunity
to participate in numerous activities during a Stingrays game.
Many teams have skated out and stood next to our team during the
National Anthem, as well as played hockey during our intermissions and
had their last regular season games prior to the Stingrays game that day.

Hat Trick for Reading
The South Carolina Stingrays Hat Trick for Reading program
had over 59,000 students and 42 schools in the Charleston
area involved during the 2015-2016 season.
The schools that participate receive a bookmark to hand out to students
and once the bookmark is completed, students receive a free ticket to a
Stingrays Hat Trick for Reading game. A completed bookmark is when a
student reads three books in an allotted amount of time.
We also rewarded the school with the most participation in our Fall and
Spring Hat Trick for Reading program with a $500.00 check
hand delivered by Stingrays players, staff and our mascot Cool Ray.

South Carolina Stingrays defenseman and forward Marcus Perrier was the
recipient of the 2015-2016 Jerry Zucker Community Service Award.
Perrier is currently in his second season with the Stingrays and has made quite the
impact in the Charleston community during the 2015-2016 season. His community
presence includes the MUSC Children’s Hospital, the Holiday Festival of Lights,
Pattison’s Academy, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge as well as numerous
meet and greets with fans and participating in Random Acts of Kindness Week.
During his first season with the Rays during the 2014-2015 season, Perrier
had visited numerous organizations including Pet Helpers, Lowcountry Food Bank
and the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.

Ray for a Day
The South Carolina Stingrays hosted ‘Ray for a Day’
for 9 year old Joshua Vacey. Joshua lost his father, a
Stingrays season ticket holder, to cancer a few weeks
prior to this event. He and his father Chet attended
Stingrays games every weekend until his father was
unable to make any more games due to his cancer
treatments.
Joshua is very active in the youth hockey programs
and to let him know that the entire Stingrays team was
there for him, the Rays invited Joshua to sign a one
day contract with the organization which included
a professional headshot and he was able to participate
in an actual practice with the entire Stingrays team.

M.A.D. Yoga
The South Carolina Stingrays partnered with Charleston Community Yoga
and The Spokes Group Charleston for Making a Difference or M.A.D. Yoga.
All proceeds from the event were donated to The Spokes Group Charleston,
an organization whose mission is to put underprivileged children on bicycles
in the Lowcountry. Each ticket to the event consisted of a yoga class and
meet and greet with Rays players, a swag bag, a ticket to a Stingrays hockey
game and a pass for a free yoga class at Charleston Community Yoga.

The South Carolina Stingrays partnered with the Salvation Army for
numerous events throughout the season. All teddy bears from the Teddy
Bear Toss were donated to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
Stingrays players also volunteered with the Angel Tree program by helping
create holiday care packages for underprivileged children and volunteered as
bell ringers during the Holiday season to raise funds for the Salvation Army.

The South Carolina Stingrays partnered with APECS Aerospace and Camp
Happy Days for Kids Kickin’ Cancer on November 1st. The Stingrays hosted
the kids from Camp Happy Days where they were able to attend a game as
well as a private meet and greet with the Stingrays players following the game.
Camp Happy Days is an annual camp for kids with cancer held every summer.
All the children who attend the camp are able to do so with no charges to them.

WEZL & Y102.5 Cares for Kids Radiothon
The Radiothon raised a total of $310,000
for the MUSC Children’s Hospital!

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge is an organization that provides cancer
patients a free place to stay when their treatments are in another city. Stingrays players
visited the Hope Lodge this season to talk with patients staying at the facility.

Pattison’s Academy
Stingrays players Marcus Perrier, Trevor Gillies, Nick Jones, Brett Cameron and
Brandon Magee participated in relay races and played floor hockey with the
students at Pattison’s Academy. On March 20th, students from Pattison’s Academy
attended a Stingrays game and participated in our postgame Skate with the Rays.
Pattison’s Academy is a school in the Charleston area whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities .

MUSC Children’s Hospital
The Stingrays visited the MUSC Children’s Hospital numerous
times throughout the season to play pool, air hockey and
participate in arts and crafts with the children in the Atrium.
20. Lowcountry Food BankStingrays players spent the week before Thanksgiving
volunteering at the Lowcountry Food Bank helping prepare and pack
foods that were delivered throughout the Charleston area.

Lowcountry Food Bank
Stingrays staff members participated in the Lowcountry Food Bank’s
‘Fresh for All’ distribution and helped hand out over 13,000 pounds of
vegetables and fruit to underprivileged families in the Lowcountry.

Skate with the Rays
On select Sunday games the Stingrays host a postgame activity called
Skate with the Rays. Each child that brings a pair of skates is able to
get autographs, pictures and skate with their favorite Stingrays player.

Stingrays Kids Club
The Stingrays Kids Club had over 100 members this past season.
Kids Club members are given access to exclusive events with the players as well
as locker room tours, bench experiences and riding our Fan-Zam during the game.

While visiting schools in the Charleston area, Stingrays players have
participated in career days as well as ‘Read Across America’ Day.
