Terry Lamb was born on November 19th,1949 in Vincennes, Indiana. He showed amazing abilities in Art at an
early age, spurred by an interest in Dinosaurs; he even gave a lecture on Paleontology at a prominent University
at the age of 8. Lamb moved to Southern California, became Captain of the Track and Cross-Country teams,
and joined fellow Alumni Pat Nagle and Peter Palombi in winning the top National Scholarship in Art, opting for
Chounairds/ California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, majoring in Fine Arts and Illustration.
Lamb moved to Laguna Beach, CA.. where he met his future wife, Kathy and had his first solo Exhibition. They
relocated to Encinitas, CA. where they had a son, Jason (by natural childbirth), who is now an accomplished
Rock ‘n’ Roll Musician in Portland, Oregon (DeMain). He began a long collaboration with legendary Art Director
Mike Salisbury; his first Illustration for ‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine won the Silver Medal in the Prestigious
‘GRAPHIS’ International Annual.
Because of his surfing experience, Lamb beat out friends Rick Griffin and Bill Ogden to work as storyboard
artist/ designer for “Big Wednesday” (John Milius/ Warner Bros). His Interest in Movies now sparked, he moved
to Malibu–living in the guesthouse of Stephanie Powers (‘Hart to Hart’) and saving her property from a huge,
terrible Malibu fire. With Salisbury returning to Los Angeles, the two began a working relationship lasting over 25
years, working for every major Film Studio. Notable Film Posters created by Lamb include “ALIENS”, “To Live
and Die in L.A.”, “Working Girl”, “Year of the Dragon”, “Enemy Mine”, “Basic Instinct”, and many others. A full
resume can be seen at IMDB.com
Without a doubt, the most enduring image created by the partnership was the infamous “Joe Camel” created
for RJReynolds. Soon “Joe” was everywhere, becoming the most recognized cartoon character ever created–
second only to ‘Mickey Mouse’.
Lamb also began doing Special Art Commissions for MOTOWN Productions, beginning with ‘MOTOWN 25’. He
also did numerous ads for GOTCHA Sportswear and logos for POLYGRAM Music, Kirin Beer, and Trailers for
Disneyland 75th Anniversary, “The Goonies”, “Short Circuit”, and “Peggy Sue got Married”.
Lamb moved to Honolulu, Oahu to become Creative Art Director for Crazy Shirts Hawaii. He continued to paint
Fine Art and was in Agreement to being represented by Wyland Galleries. Lamb’s fine Art interests range from
Ancient Civilizations, Oceania, Nature, Portraiture, and Murals to Spirituality. The Artist currently resides in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
