10. You’re done with me, Stephen
A.? That presumes we ever
actually got started. How,
exactly, can you be “done”
with someone you have never
had a meaningful
conversation with beyond a
quick First Take spot?
Regardless, I am relieved that
you no longer need to harbor
sympathy for me—mostly
because I never asked for it,
never wanted it, and certainly
never needed it. I am not a
victim here; I never claimed to
be one, either.

Expect to know the exact bone a baseball player breaks in his hand bc
analytics suggest that there is a power bone.
Now teams are struggling with information vs privacy.
Not enough info= speculation and rumors.
Too much, violation of confidentiality.
HIPAA and medical ethics prevents details from being reported.
There is also a huge risk of lawsuit if the player's value is hurt.
If something is public information it can be published
It comes down to what the lawyers have long known it can be legal but
immoral.

A study in Human Communication Research surveyed adults in their 30s and found that 90 percent felt a strong attraction to a celebrity at some point in their lives, and 75 percent reported "strong attachments" to more than one celebrity.
Main papers, beat writers, game recaps, inside looks...box scores?
Others- break news. But moving into tabloid journalism- just enough truth to not get sued. Ie, if they sue, some truths will become public.
Ex 1- personalityJust like tabloid journalism- 1 of the times they report Jennifer Aniston is a mom it'll be true... sometimes right. But more often it's speculation.
Josh Gordon
Trouble with marijuana in college- 1 suspension.
Played 2 seasons at a high level for the Browns
On June 7, 2013, the NFL announced that Gordon would be suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season due to violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.- marijuana
On August 27, 2014, Gordon acknowledged that the NFL suspended him for one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. On September 19, 2014, his suspension was reduced to 10 games amidst the new NFL drug policy. Gordon was officially reinstated on November 17.
On December 27, 2014, exactly one year removed from being selected into the Pro Bowl, the Browns suspended Gordon from the final game of the 2014 season due to a violation of team rules.

Most egregious DeSaunWhole NFL knew he was going to be releasedPhiladelphia paper used numerous Instagram photos of DeSean posted up with his “troubling associates” in their report, and claimed that his Instagram name Jaccpot10, which also is the name of his music label, has gang ties:
The two C’s in Jaccpot, cops believed, were symbolic. Crips avoid putting a “C” next to a “K” because in gangspeak, that stands for “Crip Killer.”
Jackson explained the spelling by saying the Internet domain name for Jackpot “was taken.” And that was proven true
An Instagram snapshot captures DeSean Jackson flashing a hand signal purported to be a sign of allegiance to the notorious "Crips" gang.
It looks like a sideways peace sign, but if you look closely at his fingers they are curled in "C" shapes. One detail doesn't square with this ah-ha moment: Jackson is wearing a red California Angels baseball cap, the color of choice for another notorious rival gang - the "Bloods."
Crips don't go around wearing the color of the Bloods. Presumably, that L.A. gang culture tradition would also apply to those associated with one of the rival outfits or another.
Was Jackson flashing some serious gang sign while posing for multiple photographs or merely trying to be what he may perceive as cool?

Jackson, 27, has avoided legal issues throughout his career, and there is no record that he's been involved in any sort of violent crime. That published insinuations about links to gangs is the last straw seems like a rush to dump a player without due process- real fear going forward.
No lawsuit because got huge K quickly
Can't actually pass or fail a physical. In sports they are a negotiating tool. Players with x hip degeneration at age y tend to regress sooner than a player with less degeneration.
Previously we would get notified of a trade with amts and the usual pending physicals. As recently as 2013 a few days later the same sources would report the deal fell through because of a physical.

Hard to sue because reports true, have to prove decline in worth- always been a bargaining chip
becoming a big issue. Jean Pierre Paul's full medical records were published on Twitter. Reported by ESPN and on Twitter by Adam Schefter. In November JPP filed lawsuit.
Huge cry for records on Lamar Odem. papers used published/open record police reports and interviews with prostitutes who the law argues we can judge their validity.
Not sports, but another trend stemming from this phenomenon are fans of David Bowie snd Alan Rickman being upset with the families for not disclosing the type of cancer they died of.
