The National Botanic Garden of Wales (NBGW) was the first national botanic garden created in the new millennium. Its mission is to research and conserve biodiversity through sustainable practices, lifelong learning, and visitor enjoyment. NBGW began a conservation and research program in 2007 and contributes to biodiversity conservation through research on Welsh flora, an ex-situ plant collection of over 5,000 species, a nature reserve providing habitat for research, and education of over 150,000 annual visitors.
