The Anatomy of the
Micro-Forum Technique
BRIEF OUTLINE OF
   THE WORK
WHATS IT ABOUT?
ENERGY
TRANSACTION
WHAT
HAPPENS TO A
BRAIN WITH
NO
STRUCTURE?
Building structure
around thought
processes
Building compartments of
thought
Possibly viewing it like a circuit board
Each box is what we are
     going to call a

        ‘ROLE’

       which is

AN ASSOCIATED SET OF
    BEHAVIOURS
The model I am using is
comprised of several elements
layered together to create a
formula for thought growth.
1ST Layer

DIALECTIC

THESIS

ANTI – THESIS

SYNTHESIS
THESIS ANTITHESIS

TRIAD OF THOUGHT

                   SYNTHESIS
This triad or formation would
give me the root of my modal. In
The Life of the Mind: Willing. By
Hannah Arendt published in
1978 we can use this diagram to
clarify the paradigm as stated
above.

Infinite Progress
2nd Element

              AUGUSTO BOAL

FORUM THEATRE

Actor

Audience

Joker
Forum theatre is a type of
theatre created by the
innovative and influential
practitioner Augusto Boal as
part of what he calls his
"Theatre of the Oppressed."
Boal created Forum theatre as
a forum for teaching people
how to challenge their
perceptions of oppressions
they may experience.
ACTOR AUDIENCE

FORUM THEATRE
                JOKER
3RD ELEMENT

         THE MICRO-FORUM TECHNIQUE
(PARTICIPATOR) (OBSERVER)

The Micro-Forum
Technique the intra-
psychic level of meaning.

                            (TRICKSTER)
So we have the triad of the Hegelian
Dialectic which is an analysis of
thought process, we have Augusto
Boals Forum Theatre which is an
external process of the Hegelian
process and we have The Micro
Forum Technique which is an internal
and external process at the same
time. The Hegelian dialectic working
as in internal and external dynamic at
the same time.

We might say that this is an intra-
psychic process as well as an
interpersonal process.
ACTOR AUDIENCE

      THESIS ....
                                           ANTI -
                                           THESIS ....
     (PARTICIPATOR) (OBSERVER)

Forum Theatre + Hegelian JOKER
Dialectic + The Micro-
Forum Technique
                            SYNTHESIS
                           (TRICKSTER)
What are aiming at is moving fluidly
back and fourth between the theses
and the antitheses, the observer and
the participator aspects of our brain
through negotiation with the joker/
trickster which creates the syntheses.

In any relational learning we need to
be able to adapt to situations and
change circumstance as required.

We are entering into dialogue.
INTERNAL DIALOGUE
Once we start to dialogue with
ourselves we start to take
responsibility as a natural
consequence of observing our own
thought.
We start to think about our
‘selves’ and we start to think
about the ‘selves’ of others as a
consequence, through the
observing process.
The
group
process
NEXT CHAPTER
........

                       A
               G B

               F C

                   E D
The group discusses an idea that leads them to a
commonality. This will be our point of analysis
and will form the core of the exploration.
We attach the core exploration to a character
which we build in the now. Essentially this is our
thesis.
Then we create characters that move around the
central character and will form the antithesis.
Essentially we are going to write a play in the now to
explore a central theme and find possible different
outcomes formulated by the journey of the character
carrying the central theme with other characters bringing
the action of the central character into question
activating the Thesis and Antithesis …………..

The Synthesis comes by way of getting the group to
participate and observe at the same time in
tandem………………

This fully activates the mirror neuron system internally
and externally at the same time enabling the group to
formulate empathy for and through each other.
The two people outside the group act as
storyteller and supervisor and will feedback to
the group there understanding of the process.

These two roles are to activate the inner
storyteller and the inner supervisor essential for
intra-psychic negotiation and self-development.
