ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Alistair is a property development specialist of national repute advising both private and public sector clients on
retail led urban renewal, both in the UK and abroad. With a creative and analytical approach, long experience and
high level contacts across the industry, he has an innovative track record. Alistair has particular expertise in;
Town planning, public law and urban design
Financial modeling, development feasibility and site assembly (CPO)
Development partnerships, joint venture structures and preleasing agreements
Town centre retail studies, infrastructure & tax increment finance and gap funding support.
EXPERIENCE
Notable past involvements include CANTERBURY Whitefriars (41,800 m² 1996-2005); one of the first ‘urban
renaissance’ retail led mixed use schemes arranged around open streets. Another city renewal exemplar where
Alistair advised the City Council from the outset was LIVERPOOL ONE (234,000 m² 1998-2008) which
transformed 17 hectares of the city centre. CAIRO Citystars (740,000 m² 1998-2009) was a mixed use project of
similar epic scale where he advised the developer on a scheme that blended 150,000 m² of retail/leisure with
hotels, offices, apartments and conference centre on a single 11.5 ha city block.
A partner of Cushman & Wakefield since 1989, he has played an integral role in implementing a number of major
developments collectively representing to date some 1.164 million m². On behalf of the public sector, these include
Banbury’s Castle Quay, Staines’ Two Rivers, Didcot’s Orchards and Basingstoke’s Festival Place. Experience abroad
