Spring SplashFest Pool Party
April 02 2017
12-4pm
Mohawk College Fennel Campus
MSA Plaza
Hamilton
Introduction
 Spring SplashFest is a fundraising
event during the month of April that
will bring members of the community,
volunteers, students and dogs to
Mohawk College for a pet-friendly
pool party and barbeque.
 This event will generate interest and
donations for the HBSPCA by
promoting the organization and its
programs through this fun community
event.
 The sounds of live music, the smell of
grilling burgers and the sight of dozens
of dogs splashing around the Mohawk
College campus is sure to attract
students, community members and
dog walkers from all over the West
Mountain.
About the event
Purpose of this Event and Goal to be
Achieved
 The purpose of this event is to promote the HBSPCA, increase adoptions and
raise funds for life-changing programs such as neutering, fostering and the
adoption program.
 This event will help the community access more information about the
programs and get to meet some of the animals up-close and personal.
 May prompt attendees to visit the shelter at a later date, especially after
seeing them interact with each other in the water. This will encourage
increased adoptions and shelter visits.
 Donations are always needed whether monetary or in the form of care items
such as bowls and blankets. With this event, we aim to raise $5,000 for the
HBSPCA and as many animal care items as we can collect.
Demonstrating Need for this Event
 We believe this event is needed to
create community awareness of
animal homelessness and
overpopulation.
 Many animals are overpopulated
due to being allowed to freely
mate, this is a huge problem in
Hamilton and the HBSPCA has
begun Trap-neuter-release
programs to control feral cat
populations.
 HBSPCA is also a no-kill shelter,
which reflects the opinion of many
animal-lovers.
 the HBSPCA is one of the only
shelters in the Hamilton/Burlington
area to provide assistance to low-
income citizens who need to
neuter their cats and dogs.
 Finally, this event is needed to
promote the HBSPCA’s adoption
program which is low-cost and
provides a full range of
preventative health care for your
new family pet, including
neutering and rabies vaccination.

Potential Risks and Setbacks
SWOT Analysis
Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats
 Exciting, creates awareness
 Located steps from the Mohawk
College bus terminal for easy
access.
 Allows some of the shelter dogs
an opportunity to meet and
interact with some humans and
exercise
 Gets the community up close and
personal with the HBSPCA, the
dogs and the volunteers.
 Allows the HBSPCA to inform
attendees about their adoption
program
 Promotes animal adoption
 Location is a little tucked
away, hidden
 If attendees eat beforehand
less opportunity to make
money
 Outdoor events may be
impacted by harsh weather
such as heat or high winds
 A bit of a far walk to
washrooms
 To teach the community
about responsible pet
ownership
 To collect monetary donations
from community members,
students and faculty
 To clarify any misconceptions,
the community may have
about the HBSPCA and their
mission
 To have animals adopted
 To prompt community
members to visit the shelter
 To inspire attendees to
donate
 An attendee brings an
unfriendly dog to the event
 Rain will halt the festivities
 We have an animal escape
 We end up not finding the
resources we need
 We do not reach our donation
goal
 There is a security risk
 Someone brings an
unvaccinated animal
 Someone is injured
