Personal Mission Statement
The most important thing to me is having a positive impact on each and
every person that I meet. I want to do more than just live. When people hear my
name, I want them to have only positive thoughts about me. I am committed to
showing compassion and care for my family and friends, especially! I am
passionate about always having self-improvement. I believe in consistently pushing
myself to be a better person, and I never want to stop enhancing my knowledge
about myself and the wonderful world that I live in. The world is constantly
changing and I believe in learning by doing. I do not believe in sitting on the back
burner. I go after what I want in my life with 110% effort. I believe in living a life of
“oh wells” instead of a life of “what ifs”.
My life decisions will not only impact me but also everyone that I come into
contact with. My combined passion for learning and helping people motivate me;
having that passion will help me pursue a successful career in my intended field.
People I do not know are some of my biggest motivators. I care a lot about others,
especially people who are fighting a battle that nobody else knows about. I believe
in being a cheerleader for the people who need it most. I believe in putting others
before myself a majority of the time. It is important to remember that my actions
and words truly do have meaning. My life decisions that I make now play a vital
role in my future life and the individuals I come into contact with each and every
day.
Aside from the individuals I do not know, my family is my biggest support
group. I come from a single parent home in a very small town. That situation has
defined my character greatly. My mom and my sister are both hard workers;
starting at a very young age, they taught me that life is too short not to chase your
dreams. They motivate me when I am feeling down. They help me focus on day-by-
day tasks rather than always looking at the big picture of life. They help me focus
on living in the moment and never taking anything for granted. The older I get, the
more I feel like I am picking up on those qualities.
I not only am a daughter and a sister, but I am also a student. Being a student
is one of the things I am the most proud of. I plan to accomplish so many immense
goals in my life. I want to pursue higher education after graduating from Iowa
State. Eventually I want to be a Family Therapist. I want to share my joys, defeats,
and accomplishments with my family and friends I made throughout my education
journey. I want to touch lives and help others realize there is a purpose for living. I
want to help individuals recognize that they do have an impact on the world. Being
a student ensures that I am on the right path to reaching those goals.
My religion is something I care deeply about. I appreciate God and all of his
creations; I want to help take care of the community and all of the people who live
in it. I believe in being optimistic in all situations. No matter how bad a situation
might be, I always believe that everything happens for a reason. If God is within
me, I will not fail.
I will be the best student, friend, family member, and mentor that I can be. I
will use my talents to help teach and inspire others to have a more opportunistic
and positive mindset on life. I will stay true to my family and faith; without those
two things, I would not be where I am today. Last but not least, I will be true to
myself and never stop trying to improve myself along the journey of following my
dreams.
