OF A PLUMBING SYSTEM ?
The main components of a plumbing

1. Pipes and fittings
2. Plumbing fixtures
3. The drainage system

cylindrical tubes
made from steel that
are used many ways
in manufacturing and
infrastructure.
VC pipes and PVC fittings
play an important role for
home or industrial plumbing.
We must ensure that we
place the correct equipment
to prevent any leaks or
problems.
A pipe is any system that
delivers fluid for a variety of
applications. Pipes use
pipes, valves, pipe fittings,
tanks and other apparatus to
deliver liquids.

Elbows: Used to change the angle or

Tee Fittings: Shaped like the
letter T. Allows for branch lines
Valves: Devices that control the flow of
liquid or gas through or from a pipe.
(Compression valves, ball valves, sleeve-
cartridge valves, ceramic disc valves, etc)

pipe used for?
• Industrial pipes are used for
transportation of solids and
fluids
• Transport water, gas, sewage
• Provide essential services for
industries such as oil and
natural gas pipelines, power
plants, chemical processing
facilities, refineries, steel mills,
paper mills and many other.

used for pipes
industry?
Industrial pipe contractor in Malaysia usually able :
• Steel, wood, glass, plastic, PVC, HDPE, fiberglass, aluminum, concrete, copper and more.
• Steel : for heavier industries such as oil and gas.
• PVC: For both structural and electrical applications
• Polypropylene : for transporting chemical waste and other highly corrosive materials.
• Fiberglass pipe : Has high tensile strength but low density, having relatively high mechanical resistance
• Aluminum piping: aluminum piping exist based on the type and amount of alloy added to the aluminum. The level of
aluminum pipe choose will be dependent on whether transporting highly corrosive or high-pressure materials.
• concrete pipe: Heavy but its strength is undoubtedly high, and it can last for decades after installed
• copper, and glass pipe: lighter in weight, easier to be handled as well as not so fragile

small-scale choices — plastic and metal.

Corrosion is a natural process that converts a refined
metal into a more chemically stable oxide
2.You've Observed Leaks
 Sights - If you see pooling liquids or dead patches , it’s
worth checking your pipe for leaks.
 Smells - Notice strange odors, Oil or gas might be
slipping out of system.
 Sounds - If your system is rumbling or hissing, it could
be a sign that something isn’t right.
3.You've noticed a drop in energy or

Mechanical damage is the loss of material due to a mechanical action. Mechanical damage
of pipeline can be defined as localized damage resulting from contact between the pipe
and an object.
Fatigue cracks
Piping fatigue will occur in pipe systems when the combinations of
static and dynamic stresses in the piping components exceed allowable
values.

system to leak?
Broken Seal
When your pipes were initially
installed, they were connected by
seals that keep water where it
belongs. Over time, however, those
seals can wear and break, even if
you’re doing everything right to take
care of your pipes.
High Water Pressure
Pipes are designed to
withstand a certain amount of
pressure, and too much
pressure can cause pipes to
crack and leak.

(Alblasserdam) seal failure is
defined as excessive leakage of
fluids. The amount of leaking fluids
is among other things determined
by the pressure, wear, size,
friction and rotating speed of the
pump. Pump seal failure leads to
loss of fluids and a dangerous
working environment due to
leakage
The cause of the
damaged seal

is probably the most

26. CONCLUSION
The conclusion for this field study is to provide a summary
of design practice, service experience and research work
on the design of component structures and piping
systems, thus providing background and direction for
future work. In addition, this field study is also to
identify the type of pipe material used. This report is
limited to the structural design aspects of metal piping
systems. It does not cover aspects such as inspection,
quality control, fabrication, metal deterioration in
service, and fluid flow.
