Hakaniemi, Helsinki, Finland
Sport and sport architecture are always an important area of our lives. Modern society is increasingly characterized by
speed and stress. To mitigate the effects of the whirlwind of activity and tensions generated by daily activities, health
clubs have become common use in contemporary life. They are a meeting place for relaxation and disconnection face the
hassles of everyday life.
Every winter, Helsinki is filled by snow and ice. The sport center will be the meeting point for locals. The project site
is located in the Hakaniemi neighborhood, Helsinki, Finland. I was interested in this site's urban context which shows the
contrast between old and modern buildings. The set creates the complexity of architecture today.
The building condenses a program with very diverse volumetrics. The program has three main sports groups: Individual sports
(climbing), team sports (ice hockey, basketball, volleyball), martial arts (karate, judo, squash, fencing), administration
and equipment with various volumetrics and surfaces.

Structure concept
The concept of spatial organization is based on the specific conditions of each program. Indeed, sports equipment are
defined in terms of spaces and volumes. In the project, I decided to put the larger programs in lower level and smaller
programs on top because of structural reason. The volumes of the rooms are parallel to the longitudinal side of the
project site, which gives an ideal situation for organizing large rooms. By its volumetrics, the project expresses a strong
identity in the landscape.
Sports programs can be very large and heavy. So, the structural question "How to hold floors and roofs? " is necessary.
I decided to use trusses to hold the roof of the ice rink because its ability to extend a large distance. In the other rooms
which are smaller, steel columns and beams are the solution.
9. The project site is located opposite the park of the
Citadel, in the harbor area of the Rhine river in
Strasbourg, France.
The starting point of the project is questioning the
future of Strasbourg in 20, 30, ... , 50 years. If
Strasbourg becomes a metropolitan larger scale ,
we must find a concept to densify the existing urban
context. The project aims to creat a new way of life
which would perhaps be in the idea of the vertical
city.
The two 30-floor-tower program is mixed by residen-
tial, office, hotel, public facilities and parking.

11. COMPLEX INDOOR SPORT CENTER
BARCELONA . SPAIN
location . barcelona . sant marti
Barcelona is full of expansion. Nowadays, we notice in the city a process of construction and innovation in many neighbor-
hoods; especially the Sant Marti area and the Poblenou district which is the most important sector. Sant Marti, located
in north-east of Barcelona, is the extension of the Diagonal Avenue. This is close to the Mediterranean Sea with it's long
beach. In the past, Sant Marti was one of the most important industrial zones of Barcelona. However, today it's factories
decommissioned and no longer work. Therefore, the city is planning to transform and recreate the programs so that this
area will become the new modern centrality of Barcelona.
12. To transform and innovate the Poblenou neighborhood as the new economic and technological center Barcelona, the city
is currently building a number of modern buildings, such as offices, housing, hotels, a new shopping center and a museum.
However, it still lacks public facilities, like a sport's center, for example.
The project site is located at the corner of Avenue Diagonal in the Poblenou neighborhood, Sant Marti, Barcelona . From
this site, we walk only 12 minutes to get to the beach; 9 minutes to the Rambla Prim and the Blau Museum; 5 minutes to
the park Diagonal Mars, and the shopping mall is just nearby. I was interested in this site's urban context, the contrast
between ancient and modern buildings, and the existing buildings and new highrise projects. The set creates the complexity
of architecture today.
project site
The sporty programs who are mostly in square or rect-
angular forms . Furthermore, by comparing a square, a
rectangle, a circle and a triangle for a given perime-
ter, we note that the square has the greatest area.
So the square allows me to hold the maximum amount
of courses and sports halls.
In terms of spatial organization, I classified and joined
different sports in relation by their need of surface .
For example: I combine basketball, volleyball and bad-
minton in the same room because they all need large
areas, volumes and dimensions. Karate, Taekwondo, Judo
are three competing sports, so small spaces are adapt-
ed to these sports. Rock climbing is an element with
vertical and horizontal edge, therefore this equipment
is flexible .
The exterior area is an important public space where
people can pass by or through the building, running, or
skating.
The large swimming pool with a rooftop garden and
restaurant which are on the roof would provide the
most beautiful views of the area and it's surroundings.

15. LE PORT DU RHIN
STRASBOURG, FRANCE - KEHL, GERMANY
model 1/2000 Project site
16. Located in the border, the masterplan aims to provide
more homes, leisure, public facilities, a vibrant life
mode and become a new cultural area of the Bas-Rhin
region.
Le Port du Rhin lie along the main industrial harbor
and were previously prominent players in the manage-
ment, storage, and processing of coal. The neighbour-
hood was divided into various distinct districts, and
seeks to modernize the outdated area, while using the
site's existing conditions.
The two cities Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany
will be connected by extending the public transport
- tramway . Organized along a methodical grid, it is
densely programmed with a strip of complex mixed-us-
es programs, offices, hotels, shopping, combined with
natural elements (green space, water, park...) and a
transit hub to establish a strong public presence and
fuel the urban atmosphere.
The mass transit system is complemented by a net-
work of pedestrian and bicycle paths to accommodate
"soft traffic" Through this architectural and infra-
structural range, the development strives to attract
an equally diverse population.
18. Venice has a tradition of floating structures on the water, such as the floating theatres in the Bacino, market
boats, ect. Still today, floating pavilions are being used during the Venice Carnival.
The project adds a new typology to this tradition. Therefore, we want to realize a floating swimming pool.
Currently, sport facilities are rare and located at outskirts of Venice, There is only one public swimming pool
which is in Sacca Fisola. By adding a floating swimming pool, we can reach the inhabitants of all Venitian ses-
tieri. Like a market that move from area to area, the pool docks every day of the week onto another stop in
the Laguna. A schedule well-known to Venetians and hard to grasp by short staying tourists.
The Eco-system of the Laguna is parallelled in the way the water of the pool is treated. Plants are installed
at the borders of the pool and filter water.
A simple platform is visible from the city. All logistics (changing cabins, showers, toilets) are located under-
neath. Two staircases organise two separate circulations. A purrely programmatic project with hardly any
form.

20. SCHOOL +
HAARBY, DENMARK
CULTURE AND EDUCATION - BCVA TEAM
Located in Haarby, Denmark, the project aims to creat the
new entrance of the current school and connect the old
school with its sport facility which is separated in other
building.
The new surface will serve as a link between the school and
the swimming pool, as a serie of indoor and outdoor activities
and is hoped to help form creative culture and expand the
value of physical education.
