your audience
I attracted my audience first of all, by
using social media platforms that I

2. FACEBOOK
• I used Facebook as a social media platform to
address my audience because it is one od the
most popular social sites especially amongst
teenagers. So using this to my advantage, I kept
on posting images from my thriller and it since it
can be shared amongst people it created a lot of
publicity for my thriller. People posted comments
on it saying it was a good film whereas others
criticized which is a bad thing but also good
because I can improve in those areas of error.

3. YOUTUBE
• I also used YouTube especially for posting videos
of my thriller such as the trailers for the film so
my audience can be anticipate it. It makes sense
for ne to post on YouTube as it is mainly a video
sharing site. YouTube is very mainstream and is
used by people all over the world so it does not
just target an audience but everyone. You can
gain likes or dislikes on your video and if it has a
lot of likes them people would assume it is a good
film therefore they will view it. I posted my final
thriller on YouTube as it is easily accessible there.

4. SNAPCHAT
• Snapchat is social media site that has become
widely popular recently so I thought it would
be a good idea to follow the trends and use
this site to my advantage. Snapchat is a site
where you can post videos lasting a duration
of 10 seconds therefore, Snapchat became
useful to me as I could post teasers of my
thriller which would attract my audience as
they would want to know what would happen
after a cliffhanger which teaser always leave

5. Thriller Conventions
• I think using thriller conventions contributed to the
attraction of my audience. There was violence included
in my thriller which was made even better with the
background music which contributed as non diegetic
sound. At the start of the thriller, the audience can see
a point of view shot of someone watching two other
students and he starts chasing them and this would
make the viewers wonder why they are being chased
and this creates suspense and anticipation which is a
thrill to have when watching a thriller because it makes
it more interesting trying to solve the mystery.

6. Stereotypes/ Engaging audience
• Stereotypes is one of the things that I think helped a lot
when it comes to the attraction of viewers for my thriller
because it engages the audience especially if they can
identify with the characters. In my thriller there was a black
guy with a dark hood on and this is a common stereotypes
of black people who are a part of the ethnic minority
therefore the audience can relate. Another is peer
pressure, we see that another guy is trying to persuade a
girl in the film to take drugs. Peer pressure is really
common amongst teenagers and since most of our target
audience were teenagers according to the survey I took, my
audience would relate heavily to my thriller. Therefore
stereotypes was a big contributor as well.
