The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accredited by the Higher Learning
Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and
Schools. In addition, some programs maintain specialized accreditation by
a national professional organization's accrediting agency.

Course Number Suffix
Select alphabetic characters have been assigned to course numbers to denote
a unique feature regarding the course's/sections' method of instruction:
G = Graduate credit when associated with 500, 600, and 700 1evel courses
H = Honors section - Advanced Placement or Honors for selected students
Term Calendar and Credits
The University of Nebraska-LincoLn operates on a semester calendar with
regular terms that are 16 weeks in length. Summer terms have multiple
sessions of varying length. Al1 credits are recorded in semester hours.
Attempted credits are recorded for ali course registrations that were not
dropped during the first two weeks of the term (summer sessions follow a
pro-rated timeline). Al1 transfer credit is recorded in semester hours.
Academic Standing and Eligibility to Enroll
Students are considered in academic good standing ifthey are currently
enrolled or currently eiigible to enroll in regularly scheduled classes for the
next term. Students are eligible to re-enro1l in classes for three semesters
past their last term of enrollment except Visiting and Intercampus students
who are eligible for one term only per admission application.
Partial Record
In lall 1986, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln impiemented a new
academic record system. The transcdpt of a student enrolled both before
and after Fal1 1 986 will be in two forrnats, paper and electronic. Students
spanning both formats will have entries on the eiectronic record carrying
over credit and grade factors from the old paper based academic record.
Other University of Nebraska Campuses
UNL's academic GPA reflects work done at the other University of
Nebraska campuses including the Medicai Center (UNMC), Omaha
(UNO), and Kearney (UNK). AX other transf,er credit is transferred as
earned hours without impacting GPA.

A transcript is official if it is printed on colored security paper in portrait
format and bears the facsimile signature of the University Registrar.
Grading System
From 1971 through the 2001 Summer Term the grading system consisted of
letter grades with plus notation mid-points. Beginning with Fall 2001 the
grading system was changed to letter grades with both plus and minus
notation. (Exception: Law College retained the plus only system.)

Academic Statistics
Current and cumulative statistics are presented after each term as follows:
AHRS - Attempted Hours
EHRS = Earned Hours
QHRS - Quality Hours
QPTS = Quality Points (Quality Points multiplied by Earned Hours)
GPA = Grade Point Average (Quality Points divided by Quality Hours)
Undergraduate Course Repeats and Academic Bankruptcy Policy
Only the most recent letter grade received in a given course will be used in
computing a student's cumulative grade point average if the student
completed the course more than once and previously received a grade or
grades below "C" in the course. Courses whose grade factor have been
removed are marked with the notation "Repeated" under the course title.
Undergraduate students only may remove one or two semesters of work
from degree consideration after successfully completing 15 semester hours
at a 3.0 GPA or 30 semester hours with at a 2.5 GPA at the Universiry
subsequent to the term(s) to be bankrupted. Courses with grade factors
removed through this process wili remain a part of the permanent record
and will appear on any transcript with the notation "Academic Bankruptcy."
In accordance with the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as revised, this
transcript must not be released to a third party without written authorization
ofthe student.
Transcript forgery and alterations are considered acts of academic dishonesty
and are subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of
Conduct.
