The Turkish government has issued recently a law that allows submitting and getting the Turkish visa electronically as you simply apply for tourist or trade visa via the electronic visa system on (https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/).
1. Visa,Residence and CitizenshipinTurkey
The Turkishgovernmenthasissuedrecentlyalaw that allowssubmittingandgettingthe Turkish
visaelectronicallyasyousimplyapplyfortouristortrade visavia the electronicvisasystemon
(https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/).The e-visacanbe obtainedviathe electronicsystem,which
startedin2013, easilywithinminutesthroughthe Internetfromanywhere inthe world.
Currently,the developingof the necessarylegislationsisinprogresstoenhance the base of the
electronicapplicationof the visaandensure thatforeignersgetvisasthroughpractical waysto
be adoptedinparallel meanwhile. Inthiscontext,onthe 11th
of April 2014, the followinghave
beendetermined:
Dutch, Norwegian,Polish,German,Arabic,andChinesewere addedtothe electronic
visasystemas well asthe alreadyexistinglanguages namelyEnglish,French,and
Spanish.
You can pay viacreditcards, bankcards, whichare commonly usedinadditiontovisa
cards, and mastercards.
The necessarybase,tomake it possible togetvisasfromthe officesof the airline
companies,whichare spreadoverthe citiesandairportstotransferpassengersto
Turkey,isto be developed.
The touristcompanies,whichreceivetouristgroups,are allowedtoapplyforan
electronicvisatothe whole touristgroupandmay combine the individual fee foreach
applicationintoone paymentforthe whole group.
Foreigners,whoarrivedtoTurkeywithoutgettingavisa,can applyfora visathrough
the electronicroomstobe basedat the Turkishairports.
The feesof the visasobtainedelectronicallythroughthe website,will be cheaperthan

In coordinationwithall representativesof the concernedinthe publicentitiesaswell asthe
private sector,the necessarymeasuresare beingdevelopedtoovercome the obstaclesthatmay
appearin the transitional phase of thisnew application.Theyaimtoterminate,definitively,the
waitingtime atthe airportsthroughputtingthisnew applicationinservice withinthe shortest
time.
ResidencyinTurkey:
First: tourist residence permit: Thisrequiresatravel document,adocumentof exchange of $
6000 US dollarsintoTurkishlira,healthinsurance,whichcosts700 TL (about$ 350), and an
annual rental agreementcertifiedbythe municipality.
Second:residence permitfor buyinga property: the foreignerwhobuysapropertyinTurkeyis
givena residence permit,annually renewableaslongasthe propertyisregisteredunderhis
2. name.The familymembersof the propertyowner,(Wife andchildrenagedunder18 years),are
alsogivena residence permitascompanionstothe owner.
Throughthisresidency,the ownerof the propertyhasthe rightof residence inTurkeyand
nothingmore;he isnot allowedtoapplyforTurkishcitizenship.
Documents neededfora residence permitfor those who own a property inturkey:
1. Title deedof the property(instrument).
2. Earthquakesinsurance of the property.
3. Passportvalidfor,at least,six months.
4. Marriage contract translatedtoTurkishlanguage andcertifiedbythe Turkishembassyinthe
home country.
5. Familyregisterforthe childrentranslatedtoTurkishlanguage andcertifiedbythe Turkish
embassyinthe home country.
6. Birth certificatesforthe childrentranslatedtoTurkishlanguage andcertifiedbythe Turkish
embassyinthe home country.
7. Healthinsurance fromTurkeyforeach familymember.
Casesthat are granted Turkish citizenship:
1. 5 continuousyearsof legal residence inTurkey,yetthisresidenceshouldnotbe forthe
purpose of study.
2. Those who are of a Turkishoriginandbelongtothe Ottomanorigin.
3. Marring a Turkishcitizenbe thata male or a female for3 years.In thiscase,the foreign
spouse can obtainthe Turkishcitizenship,if s/he provesthe familycohesion.
4. Businessmen,investors,artists,economists,thinkersandeveryonewhocontributestothe
developmentof agriculture,trade,industry,art,andsport.
Due conditionsto obtain the Turkish citizenship:
1. To meetthe requiredperiodof time,andcontinue the permanentresidence inTurkey.
2. Healthcertificate fromthe Ministryof Healthreports thats/he isfree of contagiousdiseases
(suchas AIDS).
3. To be of a goodbehavior.
4. To have a jobor a source of income forhim/herandhis/herdependents.S/He shouldspeak
the Turkishlanguage fairly.
5. S/He mustnot be a threat to the national securityof Turkey.S/He mustnotbe imprisonedin
Turkeyfor a criminal case.
