Job Description
Listed below are the responsibilities and job expectations of the members of the Open Eau
Claire team as well as the consequences for not meeting said expectations. Please read the
following carefully and be aware that signing this document will represent complete
acknowledgement and agreement to the information below.
Requirements:
As the backbone of the Open Eau Claire project, members of the Development & Outreach
team are expected to be responsible, mature, and self-motivated individuals in addition to the
job description listed below. Manager of the DO Team is responsible for all sub-teams and
ensuring that course get published and Open Eau Claire gets promoted.
Leadership
Providing professional guidance to DO team members
Acting as a strong, positive role model for behavior
Setting specific, measurable goals for DO team
Accountability for team’s success and failures
Team Supervision
Assigning tasks to individual members
Checking DO team member progress regularly to stay on schedule
Approving courses prior to publication
Participating in hiring process of new members
Team Training
Planning, organizing and running DO training seminars
Maintaining and updating training materials
Assisting new members based on expert knowledge and experience
Communication
Regularly connecting with team members to check progress
Updating the Director with DO team progress
Overseeing communication between DO team members and other teams
Collaboration
Working with other Managers and the Director to align overall project goals
Dedicating time to connect the DO team with other teams
Meetings
Planning, organizing and running separate DO team meetings
Presenting DO team updates during management meetings
2. Publicity
Overseeing marketing, advertising, and events to promote the project
Creativity
Looking beyond immediate needs to expand the project
Developing new ideas and avenues for the project
Contributing and communicating ideas to team members
DO Responsibilities
Understanding and educating team members on the DO job description
Holding team members to job requirements and consequences
Consequences:
Open Eau Claire is a special project that only hires the brightest, self-motivated students. Once
on the team, the above responsibilities are expected to be understood and undertaken by
every individual. In regards to consequences for neglecting responsibilities, it is up to the
Director to take action. Listed below is the course of action for addressing employees not
meeting expectations. (Note: these procedures are strictly based on Open Eau Claire policies.
For general student employee information, check the Student Manual in the “UWEC Student
Employment Policies” document)
Warnings and Termination:
In order for employees to have fair warning and a chance to improve their behavior, verbal and
written warnings will be issued before considered termination. These warnings will be
documented by the Director and processed through the Team Manager. Warnings are to be
taken seriously as they can lead to termination.
Verbal Warning: Determined and spoken by the Team Manager, a verbal warning can be
issued in regards to any of the responsibilities and/or requirements listed in this document.
Employees that sign this document acknowledge they are held accountable for their
responsibilities and if they are not met, a written warning and potential termination will be the
consequence.
Written Warning: Determined and written by the Director, a written warning must follow a
verbal warning and can be issued in regards to any of the responsibilities and/or requirements
listed in this document. Employees that sign this document acknowledge they are held
accountable for their responsibilities and if they are not met, a warning and potential
termination will be the consequence. Written warnings are cleared after every semester, but
are kept on file.
3. Termination: After an employee has been issued a written warning, if behavior continues and
responsibilities aren’t upheld, a meeting will be set with the team member, Director and Team
Manager to complete designated termination paperwork and to assess what had led the
employee to this point.
Note: This document is always available to employees. After signing, a copy will be given to the
employee and extras will always be on the W Drive for printing.
Acknowledgement & Agreement
By signing the line below, the team member has both read and agreed with the job
responsibilities listed above. This signed document represents the team member’s
acknowledgement of their position with the project and the consequences for not complying
with the requirements expected of them.
