1. Important Things to Carry on Chardham Yatra
Packing for a vacation is always exciting, and if it is for a pilgrimage like Chardham Yatra, you get
a really special feel. Among the most sacred pilgrimages for Hindus, Chardham Yatra is a journey
towards four holy temples in Garwal region of Utterakhand. They are the temples of
Yamunotari, Gangotari, Badrinath and Kedarnath and are situated amidst lush green hill of
Himalaya.
The journey to these temple towns is arduous: long uphill trek under uncertain weather. The
tourists are advised to do right packing so as to avoid any possibility of pitfall.
2. What to carry?
Clothes: due to chilly weather at high altitude in Himalaya, it is good to carry warm woolen
clothes. Pack all your winter essentials like a leather jacket, woolen garments, gloves and
raincoat to keep you warm. Don’t pack too heavy, as it would like a burden when you’ll be
walking on your feet. Pack loose clothes instead of tight jeans. Saari is not appropriate attire for
ladies on Yatra. They can wear salwar-suit or track suits for comfortable walking.
3. Shoes: Since the journey passes through hills and rivers and valleys, you better carry trekking
shoes. A pair of sleeper can be used while around temples.
A medical-kit: this is what any travel guide book would recommend to all pilgrims on Chardham
Yatra. Carrying a first-aid kit with some medicines for common health problems like headache,
nausea, fever and stomach infection would be useful. Lip balm, sunscreen lotion and mosquito
repellent are some other essentials.
Also, pack some dry fruits or snacks to keep you energize on the way. Chardham Yatra packages
are available to put the pilgrims on ease.
