4. Get To Know Your Gut
@ T H E S T R A N G E B L A C K G I R L
The Gastrointestinal tract, also known as the "gut" has a
complex job in the body. Beginning at the mouth down to the
stomach, it transports food through the body and processes
the food into absorbable nutrients and stored energy. Once
processed the food is then released out of the body. The GI
tract is embedded with a plethora of bacteria that assist
in reducing symptoms or helps to heal physical illnesses that
does not specifically pertain to the "gut" or digestion such as,
, cancer , diabetes , heart disease , obesity , and many more.
Why is gut health important?
Just like everything else in our lives, the "gut" has to remain balanced at all cost,
With the trillions of bacteria that call our GI tracts home we have to keep in mind
how balanced bellies work. Where as some bacteria will fight yeast in the body
some will promote it, but this is only when the gut is working all together in a
healthy manner. It's when the gut is not balanced and working all together that
the entire cycle of ones GI tract is altered. And during those times any bacteria
that may cause inflammation can indeed take over and eventually create
metabolites which can travel throughout the body into the bloodstream and
cause other parts of the body to be inflamed.
5. Eye On The Fiber
@ T H E S T R A N G E B L A C K G I R L
Fiber - aids in eliminating toxins through
the colon. It is broken down into two
sectors , soluble fiber, and insoluble
fiber.
Soluble fiber- dissolves in water, it also
transforms as it transitions through the GI
tract.
Insoluble fiber- does not dissolve in
water, it also does not transform as it
travels through your gut, but it can be
fermented by bacteria in the colon
,
* Fermentation -the chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria, yeasts, or other
microorganisms ( definition provided by google).
Why is fiber important ?
Both insoluble fiber and soluble fiber. are beneficial to the human body in numerous
ways, incorporating insoluble fiber and soluble fiber into your diet can prevent or alleviate
chronic illnesses such as diabetes, individuals who suffer from diabetes that consume
adequate levels of fiber tend to need less insulin. Fiber also can assist in GI tract health, as
well as balancing PH levels within the intestines, assisting with cholesterol levels , body
weight control, and protection against heart disease.
6. What if we just stay here ?

information feels like it's
too much to process , you

7. Lean Lean Protein Machine
@ T H E S T R A N G E B L A C K G I R L
Protein - Every single cell in the human body,
needs protein.
Protein is considered to be the building block of
the body, When you are constantly feeding your
body protein you are promoting hormonal
regulation, oxygenation through blood cells that
helps to promote nutrients in the body. You are
also promoting healthy digestion , you are
assisting your body in repairing tissues within, As
well as fertilizing your hair follicles , encouraging
healthy nails , healthy bones , skin, muscles and
cartilage.
Fun Fact: You do not need to consume animal products to get the protein you need
from your diet.
Here are a few soy free plant based proteins: Quinoa, Almonds, Chickpeas, Hemp seeds
(3 tablespoons every serving) , Black beans, Spirulina, Lentils, Pumpkin seeds, Chia
seeds, Rolled oats, Spinach , Walnuts, Red Kidney Beans, Kale, and many more.

deserves to be admired the way
the sun admires all of her
flowers.
so i decided to treat it as such,

9. We Are The Vitamins
@ T H E S T R A N G E B L A C K G I R L
Unknowingly many individuals suffer from vitamin
deficiencies. Which is simply a deeply rooted lack of
(singular or multiple) vitamin absorption in the body.
When the human body is lacking in nutrients not only
are we as living beings effected but so are our mental
states. For instance individuals who are vitamin D
deficient can experience spells of depression, and if
they are also deficient in vitamin B they may also
experience difficulty when trying to conjure up a
thought, or nerve, and fatigue problems .
Why are vitamins important ?
When we are neglecting our selves it tends to physically show up in the body. It is up to
us to pay attention to what we are lacking in physically and to fill the holes as fast as we
can. Vitamins assist in filling holes that could potentially lead to chronic health leaks for
the rest of our lives, So the next time you are feeling excessively tired, or you are
experiencing brain fog, excessive hair loss, or uncontrollable weight. Do not assume
you're just tired from a lack of sleep if its been 3 months of feeling exhausted , or you
are solely stressed out and that is why your weight is uncontrollable and you are losing
your hair, Although those may very well be true more than likely your body will also be
lacking in a vitamin you are in need of. So think about incorporating vitamin rich fruits
and vegetables in your diets that you can consume on a day to day basis. My advice to
everyone, start with spinach.

14. Herbs I Do Adore
@ T H E S T R A N G E B L A C K G I R L
Herbal Medicine - is the study and use of botany
for medical practices.
Herbal medicine has been utilized for decades.
And the utilization of herbs to heal and treat
physical , as well as mental disorders has been
passed down for generations and is still being
practiced throughout this modern day. The
distinctions between herbal medicine and any
other practice is simple. Where as many other
medical practices "treat" infections ,or rashes,
individually, or simply prescribe medication to
make disabilities and diseases tolerable; When
you include herbs into your day to day lives not
only are you treating one physical or mental
ailment you are also , consuming properties that
may build your immune system, assist in increasing
your vitamin levels, and even purifying your blood
all at once, And with doing so you can reverse
many of the symptoms that you may suffer from on
a day to day beacuse of this.
15. The day the earth was created, i
like to think she was designed
the same way i was, infiltrated
with blackness and created with
having everything she needed to
be the greatness that she is, so
when i am in need of healing, i
go back to where i came from.
Mother Earth. she already has
everything i need in her.

22. For Most of us dieting is extremely hard, because
not only do we have to be disciplined, but for
some of us we are also straying away from our
culture and our only way of living through what
we eat.
Food plays a very large role in our lives, we
start family traditions in the kitchen during
holidays, we hear stories of our ancestors, and
we sit and laugh as we discuss which dish is our
favorite and why, because of this most of the time
when we start to transition from our
generational diet to a healthy one, we often
times find ourselves relapsing, and eating things
we promised our selves we wouldn't. so our next
section was created to introduce us all to plant
based condiment options that reminds us of what
we have come accustomed to in taste without
being detrimental to our bodies.
