Were given an opportunity to learn & understand
about the socio-economic status of women who
worked at beauty parlor in Khulna, Bangladesh,
along with their level of job satisfaction. For that we
went on to do a survey on such question, with the
help of 10 beauticians who worked at various parlors
around Moylapota Morh and Alir Club Morh…..
It all started when we…
At Length
1 Age
9 of them are around the age between 18-25, the other is
elder being between 26-35
2 Religion
8 of them are Muslim, 1 is Hindu & the other is a Buddhist.
3 Marital Status
None of them are married.
4 Experience in Numbers
1 of them has been working for barely 1 year, 1 other has
been working for more than 5 years & the rest has the
experience between 1-5 years.

This data implies that the amount they are earning are optimum enough to start/keep saving
for future. Another implication is that they can’t save money for a specific goal which is
understood when the reason for saving is actually future uncertainties.

70% Positive, meaning half of them are satisfied with
their salary, other 30% remain Neutral in this regard

Positive-80% of the respondents receive bonus
during festivals, 1 other remains Neutral, while other
1 does reported in Negative.
Maternity Leave
50% Positive- word is that their parlor allows
maternity leave, 30% Negative reporters said their
parlor doesn’t allow maternity leave, while the rest

80% of the respondents replied in Positive, that they
were given extra wage for working overtime.

their owner’s.

Positive - 50% of the respondents shared that their family was happy with their decision. Other 50% remains unsure.
Job Security
Negative – 40% reported that they will lose their job if they are absent longer than normal, while 1 other has no such
worries, other 50% are unsure about this remark.

Were given an opportunity to learn & understand about the socio-economic status of women who worked at beauty parlor in Khulna, Bangladesh, along with their level of job satisfaction. For that we went on to do a survey on such question, with the help of 10 beauticians who worked at various parlors around Moylapota Morh and Alir Club Morh….. It all started when we…

At Length 1 Age 9 of them are around the age between 18-25, the other is elder being between 26-35 2 Religion 8 of them are Muslim, 1 is Hindu & the other is a Buddhist. 3 Marital Status None of them are married. 4 Experience in Numbers 1 of them has been working for barely 1 year, 1 other has been working for more than 5 years & the rest has the experience between 1-5 years. Another implication is that they can’t save money for a specific goal which is understood when the reason for saving is actually future uncertainties. Except for one, all the rest are able to save from their earnings. Furthermore, 8 of the them save money against future uncertainties, the other’s goal is to buy a house/plot. Ascension 17 Positive On Likert scale, this implies “fully agree” and “agree” Neutral This in general can either mean in somewhat agreeing and disagreeing at the same time or refraining on responding in certainty. Negative On the Likert scale, this will mean as “fully disagree and disagree”

Ascension 19 Financial Support to the family Salary Satisfaction 90% Positive, which indicates most of the respondents have decided to work at a parlor to support the family better according to the frequency table. 70% Positive, meaning half of them are satisfied with their salary, other 30% remain Neutral in this regard Bonus During Festivals Positive-80% of the respondents receive bonus during festivals, 1 other remains Neutral, while other 1 does reported in Negative. Maternity Leave 50% Positive- word is that their parlor allows maternity leave, 30% Negative reporters said their parlor doesn’t allow maternity leave, while the rest remained NeutralExtra Wages Overtime 80% of the respondents replied in Positive, that they were given extra wage for working overtime. Ascension Recess Allowances 70% Neutral response, rest 30% replied Positively Obligatory Overtime 30% Negative - for them it is obligatory, 30% Positive- it is not obligatory Wage Increase with Experience 80% Negative, meaning that wage doesn’t increase with experience. Transport Allowances 7 of the respondents remained Neutral I answering this question Medical Treatment Allowances 60% reported Neutral. Religious Festival Leave 40% Negative replies along with 20% Positive. 20

Satisfactory Owner Behavior 100% Positive reply indicates they agree on that their owners’ behavior satisfy them Safety From Sexual Harassment 90% Positive, implies that they are not in risk of facing sexual harassment. Security 90% Positive response indicate that almost all of them feel safe at their workplace Good Group Behavior 50% of the respondents have a Positive relationship with other workers.

First Aid 80% of the respondent’s replied Positive, while other 2 replied Negative Fire Extinguisher 90% Positive – Their parlor has fire extinguishers’ if fire breaks out. Good Environment Positive - 80% of the respondents shared that their workplace has an environment much to their Satisfaction.
  • 23. Recess During Work 7 beauticians answered Positively that they can get a break if it is necessary Work Itself Ascension 23 Autonomy of freedom? Lunch with Family 9 beauticians was Positive in replying if they were able to have lunch with their families. Training Facility 9 of the beauticians receive training from their owner’s.
  • 24. Personal Satisfaction Ascension 24 Am I Satisfied? Family is Happy Positive - 50% of the respondents shared that their family was happy with their decision. Other 50% remains unsure. Job Security Negative – 40% reported that they will lose their job if they are absent longer than normal, while 1 other has no such worries, other 50% are unsure about this remark. Joining was The Right Decision 80% remained Neutral in this case, while 2 think their decision was Positive
