2. * In 1957, Primary School No. 71 and
Primary School No. 72 were
established at the corner of
Przybyszewskiego and
Świerczewskiego (now Bukowska)
Streets in Poznań, Poland.
3. * Sport was a favourite activity of the youth.
Already in 1959, our students came first in the
district, city, province and even Poland in many
areas of sport. Due to its successes in sport,
Primary School No. 71 was named after an
outstanding Polish sportsman, Janusz Kusociński,
in 1972 and became a sports school specialising
in handball in 1974.
* On August 28, 1976, after twenty years of
independent existence, two schools: Janusz
Kusociński Primary School No. 71 and Primary
School No. 72, were united by the decision of the
education authorities. Due to the glorious sports
traditions of the former Primary School No. 71,
the newly established school maintained the
sports profile and the name of Janusz Kusociński.
4. Before 1999, primary school in Poland started
at six or seven years old and lasted for six
years. Starting with the school year of
2017/18, primary schools were extended to
eight years. There are 462 pupils at the
moment at our schools, in grades 1 to 7 (grade
8 coming next year).
We are not a sports school anymore, but–we
take part in some great international projects
instead!
