2. Paradise Lost is an epic poem in blank verse by
the 17th century English poet.
John Milton(1608-1674).
The poem concerns the biblical story of the fall
of man: The temptation of Adam & Eve by the
fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the
garden of Eden.
In the present topic we will see the different
views on Paradise Lost through the
Christianity and Islam.
3.
4. Different implication on creation.
God’s attitude towards Adam & Eve.
Different point of views on nakedness.
Different views on downfall.
Different character sketch.
Different shape of Satan.
5. There are different views regarding the
creation of Adam & Eve in the Bible and Islam
that, Adam is created out of dust and Eve from
Adam’s rib when we come to Islam Adam &
Eve’s creation out of the same dust.
The Bible says that God intended Adam to be
his reflection whereas in Islam Adam is not
God’s image, but his surrogate on earth.
6. The Bible lines; “I will not again curse the ground
any more for man’s sake for the imagination of
man’s heart is evil from his youth neither will I
again smite any more every living, as I have
done(genesis) these line conveys that man is evil
both in his thought and action, also God
disappointed at his creation.
Where as Islamic views, God always proud of his
creation; “I will create a vicegerent on earth”. They
said: ‘ Wilt thou place therein one who will make
mischief therein and she blood?, whilst we do
celebrate thy praises and glorify thy holy(Al-
Baqrah).
7. In the Bible God so angry on over Adam that
he curses Adam to live on the earth with
sorrow, because Adam followed Eve and eaten
fruit, whereas in the Islamic views, there is not
Quranic verse re-approaches them for their
disobedience; even after there fall, God does
not speaks to them in revengeful tone.
8. In the Bible the word of nakedness used and
also about the desire of sexuality whereas in
the Quran there is no mention of sexual desire
and somewhere nakedness use in mentally not
physically mans loss of innocence.
9. Through out the Paradise Lost and the Bible we
have seen that Eve was responsible for
downfall but in the verse of Taha Surah which
imply Adam being responsible for fall. In these
verse of Ta-Ha, the singular object pronoun
“him” refers to Adam who first ate the fruit as
a result of which Eve followed in the same
action so in some verse, considers Adam as the
initiator of this process.
10. There are many different in the characters of
holly book and Milton’s Paradise Lost, Milton
used human perspective in his characters like
Eve and Satan characters are more powerful
then God while in the Bible and the Quran
throw more light on God and Adam’s
character.
11. In the Paradise: Satan takes the form of a
serpent.
In the Bible: Satan takes various form like
whale, a serpent, tiger etc.
In the Quran: There is no any form Satan is
invisible.
12. Here, we can see that how different story of
Genesis with different holly books. We also
seen the narration style of Milton in different
way.
